- Demonstrates clear and concise verbal and written communication skills.
- Maintains clinical competency appropriate to the service provided, the needs of age groups served, and specific competencies.

- Completion of high school or its equivalent.
- Successful completion of on-the-job training.
- Provides patient care under the supervision and direction of a registered nurse.
- Responds quickly to requests to transport specimens or equipment.
- Assists with equipment procurement, transport, and setup for room preparation.
- Transports patients, specimens, and laboratory materials with appropriate documentation.
- Assists with patient positioning and preparation.
- Assists with operating room turnover.
- Follows established procedures for cleaning suites between procedures and starts cleanup as directed by the registered nurse to expedite room turnover.
- Moves equipment to its proper location.
- Transports patients, assists with surgical preparations and positioning, and cleans stretchers and surgical rooms according to policies, procedures, and standards.
- Performs housekeeping duties as necessary, including cleaning surgical tables, Mayo stands, overhead lights, surgical beds, and mopping floors.
- Monitors and maintains supplies.
- Stocks and monitors blanket and fluid warmers.
- Stocks wash stations and linen carts.
- Removes and empties cardboard box containers.
- Ensures basins and carts are available for all active operating rooms.
- Ensures stretchers and beds with oxygen are available for active operating rooms.
- Helps put away instruments and supplies.
