About the job
- A Doctorate in Medicine (MD or DO).
- Residency in an adult primary care specialty, such as family medicine, general internal medicine, geriatric medicine, or combined internal medicine and pediatrics.
- At least 2 years of direct clinical patient-care experience, with consideration given to quality improvement activities, cost-containment initiatives, and other population health experience.
- At least 5 years of experience working in partnership with hospitals and health systems as a medical director or clinical strategy lead.
- Board certification in the relevant specialty, such as ABFM certification.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously and coordinate activities to consistently meet deadlines and expectations within assigned markets.
- Ability to span high-level strategy and the tactical work required to deliver results within market portfolio assignments.
- Lead and drive Performance Excellence clinical outcomes across all contracts within the assigned portfolio.
- Strategically align and coordinate with national Hospital and Health System strategy leadership on Performance Excellence clinical drivers of shared savings aligned with the annual operating plan.
- Drive clinical performance in risk- and hypertension-based initiatives while assisting in the launch of newly signed practices.
- Own clinical strategy goals and objectives in coordination with executive directors, account leads, the Market President, and the Senior Vice President of Strategic Initiatives.
- Deploy clinical contracted extenders, coaching, and Aledade tools to drive successful clinical outcomes across the portfolio.
- Serve as a national Clinical Champion for value-based care performance.
- Communicate and champion the company’s value-based care strategy through clinical workflows that improve performance in risk and hypertension initiatives among partner practices and clinicians.
- Influence best practices and optimized clinical workflows that complement Hospitals and Health Systems practice-transformation efforts.
- Serve as a thought partner to the Market President and Senior Vice President of Strategic Initiatives, sharing accountability with Hospital and Health System colleagues and championing clinical strategy within growth, local policy, and other market initiatives.
- Serve as ACO Medical Director for applicable accountable care organizations.
- Serve on strategic workgroups or committees with the National Medical Director to contribute to clinical performance strategies across the company.
- Provide clinical leadership, insight, and piloting opportunities to enhance and grow clinical resources and initiatives.
- Take on additional duties as organizational needs and priorities evolve.
- Excellent organizational, project management, and team-building skills.
- Familiarity with process mapping and workflow analysis tools.
- Excellent computer skills and willingness to learn additional software applications.

Aledade, a US value-based care company, has appointed Daren Thayne as chief technology officer and Dr Josh Mandel as chief scientist. The hires aim to accelerate AI integration into Aledade's platform for primary care organisations. Thayne joins from Domo, where he spent over 15 years in technology leadership roles. He previously served as CTO at Ancestry.com. Dr Mandel, joining in August, was chief architect for health at Microsoft Research and helped develop FHIR health data standards.
