Requirements
  • A Bachelor of Science in Nursing is required.
  • A Florida Registered Nurse License is required.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support Certification is required.
  • Basic Life Support Certification is required.
  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience is required.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, nursing care methods and procedures, and health and safety guidelines and procedures is required.
  • The ability to recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems is required.
  • The ability to maintain effective interpersonal relationships is required.
  • The ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form is required.
Responsibilities
  • Assess assigned patients and evaluate plans, including documenting nursing care and reporting symptoms, vital signs, and changes in patients’ conditions.
  • Modify patient treatment plans based on patients’ responses, conditions, and physician orders.
  • Review, evaluate, and report diagnostic tests to assess patients’ conditions.
  • Consult with physicians and other healthcare professionals to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans.
  • Prepare patients for and assist with examinations, procedures, and treatments.
  • Consider patient age and culture during treatment and provide needed information regarding treatment plans.
  • Provide psychological support and nurture a compassionate environment.
  • Perform appropriate patient tests and safely administer medications within the scope of practice.
  • Maintain accurate records related to medications and treatments in accordance with regulatory requirements, policies, procedures, and physician orders.
  • Communicate the plan of care to patients, families, and appropriate team members in a timely manner while ensuring compliance with regulatory guidelines such as HIPAA.
  • Use available resources to assist in discharge planning.
  • Plan, prioritize, and adjust assignments to accomplish goals and provide patient care, seeking assistance when needed.
  • Safely operate medical equipment.
  • Serve as a preceptor and assist new staff in providing care and acclimating to the healthcare environment and direct patient care role.
  • Adhere to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguard University assets.
