About the job

Requirements
  • At least 25 years of technology leadership experience in tier-1 banking, capital markets, or other highly regulated, mission-critical environments, including hands-on engineering expertise and the ability to code and engage deeply with technical teams.
  • Proven expertise in enterprise architecture and technology strategy, including defining multi-year roadmaps, reference architectures, design standards, and architectural governance for complex financial-services platforms.
  • Strong technical depth in distributed, event-driven, data-intensive systems, cloud platforms including AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud Platform, security, resilience, regulatory compliance, and large-scale production environments.
  • Deep domain knowledge of financial services and emerging technologies, including banking operations, regulatory reporting, data platforms, artificial intelligence and analytics in production, agent-based systems, knowledge graphs, and semantic data models.
Responsibilities
  • Partner closely with the Head of Technology for Enterprise Solutions to shape the technology direction of a complex, regulated financial-services estate.
  • Ensure technology strategy is grounded in engineering reality, deep domain understanding, and operational outcomes through hands-on principal engineering and architecture.
  • Work with the Head of Technology to shape and refine strategy by testing ideas against engineering, regulatory, and operational constraints.
  • Engage with senior engineering leaders, platform teams, and product partners to turn strategy into buildable and operable designs.
  • Get involved early in complex or high-risk initiatives and step in during major incidents and recovery efforts.
  • Act as the engineering authority across Enterprise Solutions, shaping architecture, design, and delivery decisions across multiple teams and domains through influence rather than line management.
  • Balance long-term strategy with near-term delivery constraints, operational resilience, and regulatory expectations.
  • Represent the technology direction to clients and senior stakeholders, explaining design choices and trade-offs clearly and credibly.
Desired Qualifications
  • Strategic thinking and sound judgment, with the ability to balance long-term vision, regulatory requirements, operational realities, and business outcomes.
  • Influential leadership capable of driving decisions, alignment, and engineering excellence through credibility, collaboration, and expertise rather than formal authority.
  • Communication and stakeholder-management skills to articulate complex technical concepts, trade-offs, and risks to executives, clients, regulators, and engineering teams.
  • A coaching and mentoring mindset, raising the capability of senior engineers and architects through hands-on guidance, design reviews, and practical problem-solving.

S&P 500 Q3 profits seen surging 31% as AI giants drive nearly two-thirds of growth

Analysts expect S&P 500 earnings to jump about 31% in the third quarter from a year earlier, with technology and AI-focused companies such as Alphabet, Amazon, and Meta Platforms driving nearly two-thirds of the rise. Energy companies are projected to post a roughly 115% profit increase, according to Reuters. Higher oil prices amid the US-Israeli war with Iran pushed American crude about 30% higher during the quarter. Growth looks weaker elsewhere. Consumer staples and real estate are expected to report the slowest year-over-year gains. Second-quarter earnings rose nearly 54%, the strongest growth since 2021, according to LSEG. Excluding mark-to-market gains at Alphabet and Amazon, growth was about 35%. Investors worry about the wider market if the AI boom slows.
