About the job

Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in Business, Education, Communications, Human Resources, Organizational Development, or a related field, and 4 or more years of experience in learning and development, technical or professional training, enablement, or program management with a substantial training component, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience building curriculum from needs analysis through design, delivery, and measurement for a large, distributed audience.
  • Experience delivering training in a technical or engineering environment, including working with subject matter experts to turn their knowledge into repeatable material.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, including the ability to explain complex processes and tools clearly to audiences with widely varying starting knowledge.
  • Experience establishing a learning function where none formally existed, including defining scope, standards, and measurement.
  • Formal grounding in instructional design and adult learning, such as ADDIE, 70-20-10, or Kirkpatrick evaluation, and a track record of measuring training beyond completion rates.
  • Experience building manager enablement around performance, compensation, or talent cycles in partnership with HR.
  • Experience driving adoption and enablement for an internal platform or system of record, in partnership with the product team behind it.
  • Experience building AI fluency programs or communities of practice, with a demonstrated commitment to responsible AI use.
  • Experience owning compliance training completion for a large organization, including reporting, escalation, and audit readiness.
  • Familiarity with Viva Learning or comparable learning platforms, and experience supporting early-career or university hire programs.
  • Ability to influence senior leaders without direct authority in a large, matrixed environment.
Responsibilities
  • Own the AIX learning strategy and curriculum by running recurring needs analysis to identify capability gaps and prioritize development based on business impact.
  • Design role-based learning paths for engineers, program managers, DRIs, managers, and new hires, favoring short, applied, just-in-time content over long courses.
  • Maintain a single discoverable home for AIX learning content and retire stale material.
  • Build and run manager enablement across the annual people cycle, including Connects and impact conversations, Rewards recommendations, calibration and People Discussions, promotions, and Rewards Snapshot conversations.
  • Time enablement to the actual calendar so managers are ready before each gate, and give new managers a dedicated path covering impact assessment and difficult conversations.
  • Partner with HR to localize corporate manager guidance for AIX, track readiness, and follow up with leaders whose teams are behind.
  • Own DRI enablement, including accountability, writing missions and success metrics, maintaining milestones and dependencies, and defining completion expectations at each point in the cycle.
  • Own Atlas enablement from a getting-started path through advanced training on resource allocation, ownership, expertise data, and reporting; build tiered paths and run office hours around cycle milestones.
  • Partner with the Atlas product team to keep enablement current with the tool and measure success through complete, timely mission sheets, dependencies, and staffing data.
  • Establish and share best practices for using AI tooling in daily work, with practical patterns, worked examples from AIX work, and guidance on where the tools help and do not help.
  • Run an AI champions network that surfaces and spreads effective techniques, with discipline-specific material for engineering, program management, design, and business roles.
  • Keep AI guidance current as tooling changes, align it with Microsoft's Responsible AI principles, and measure applied adoption rather than session attendance.
  • Own AIX completion of mandatory corporate training, including Standards of Business Conduct and the Trust Code, security foundations, privacy, and role-based requirements.
  • Maintain completion visibility across every pod and site through Viva Learning and connected reporting, and drive completion ahead of deadlines through targeted communications and manager escalation.
  • Get new hires and transfers into required training promptly in partnership with the onboarding lead, and keep leadership current on standing and risk.
  • Own the AIX Aspire experience for university, MBA, and other early-in-profession hires as a company-sponsored investment.
  • Work with managers to protect Aspire learning time, approximately 8 to 9 hours per month plus multi-day in-person experiences, and set the expectation that business activity moves around it.
  • Build the AIX layer on top of the corporate Aspire curriculum, including a local cohort community, executive connections with AIX leaders, peer mentoring, and exposure across pods.
  • Scale delivery through train-the-trainer models, a subject matter expert network, and self-serve content others can run independently.
  • Define and report success measures beyond completion, including behavior change and business outcomes such as time to productivity, planning data quality, manager readiness, tool adoption, and learner confidence; retire what is not effective.
  • Apply AI-assisted tooling to content drafting, needs analysis, feedback synthesis, and reporting, with humans making decisions.
Desired Qualifications
  • A bachelor's degree and 10 or more years of experience in learning and development, enablement, or training program management, or equivalent experience.

Citi's Radke: AI splits software into winners like Microsoft and losers like Adobe

Citi's Tyler Radke says AI is splitting software into winners and losers. Radke, co-head of US software equity research, told Bloomberg Television that AI is lifting growth at Microsoft, Palantir, and Snowflake. He expects Microsoft's revenue growth to top 20%, up from 18% in the quarter ended June 30. Office costs under $100 a month and bundles security and Copilot, while rivals charge hundreds of dollars, leaving room to raise prices. Adobe and smaller application vendors face pressure as IT budgets shift to AI, he said. Salesforce agreed to buy Braze for $47.50 per share in cash. Radke questions whether Salesforce can speed up organic growth after half a dozen large deals. If financing stays costly, he expects scale to decide who survives.

Xbox's non-gamer CEO cuts thousands of jobs in a bid to save the $21B gaming unit

Asha Sharma, 38, who had no video game experience, became Xbox chief executive in February, replacing Phil Spencer. Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella picked her to turn around the $21 billion business, where profit margin sits near 3%. Sharma has cut 1,868 jobs as part of a plan to reduce headcount by 3,200 over the next year. She is also consolidating studios and shifting money to top franchises such as Minecraft and Blizzard titles. She plans a next-generation handheld by the 2027 holiday season and a new console by the 2028 holidays. Xbox also plans to overhaul Game Pass. Some observers wonder whether Microsoft is preparing Xbox for a sale or spinoff.

Cash beats debt: stronger balance sheets sit closer to 52-week highs in all five pairs

Companies with more cash than debt are holding up better as inflation hits 3.7%, the 10-year Treasury yields about 5.1%, and US oil tops $100 a barrel. An analysis of five industry pairs found the stronger company sat closer to its 52-week high in every case. In four, debt made the difference. Microsoft, with $20 billion of net cash, is 1.8% below its high. CoreWeave, with $46 billion of net debt, is 56.3% below. Exxon is 0.4% below its high, against 35.6% for American Airlines. Nucor trails its high by 4.9%, while Celanese trails by 30.8%. Alphabet is down 14.4%, while Charter, with $96 billion of net debt, is down 57.0%. Costco and Nike are the exception: Nike's gap stems from falling sales, not debt.

CAS brings 150 years of curated science into Microsoft Copilot for pharma and chemical R&D

CAS, a division of the American Chemical Society, has made its CAS Connections tool available in Microsoft Copilot. The connector gives Copilot users access to the CAS Content Collection and CAS Newton, an agentic AI built for science. It targets pharmaceutical, life sciences, and chemical research teams. The tool brings more than 150 years of CAS-curated scientific knowledge into the apps where they work. A chemist in Microsoft Word, for example, can confirm a compound's CAS Registry Number and check reaction conditions. An analyst in Teams can check whether a substance appears in patent literature. "Scientists, patent teams, and business analysts can easily access this trusted information directly within Copilot," said Chantrelle Nielsen, principal product manager, Copilot Platform, at Microsoft. The connector is available in the Microsoft Marketplace.

Microsoft reportedly weighs 20% Azure cost cuts as AI spending hits $175B

Microsoft is reportedly weighing cost cuts of at least 20% at Azure, its cloud unit. Azure President Girish Bablani asked senior leaders in his roughly 11,500-person unit to find the savings, according to reports. Microsoft denies that Azure leadership has directed teams to develop cost-cutting plans. The reports come as AI infrastructure spending pressures margins. Microsoft expects about $50 billion in capital expenditures for the first quarter of fiscal 2027 and roughly $175 billion for calendar 2026. Demand remains strong. Fourth-quarter revenue rose 18% to $90 billion, and Azure and other cloud services revenue grew 43%. Microsoft shares are up 10% this year.
