Goldman Sachs boosts Quantum Development Finance facility to $889M

Goldman Sachs has committed up to an additional £500m to Quantum Development Finance, potentially expanding the specialist lender's funding capacity to £700m. The expanded long-term facility represents potential funding capacity rather than capital already advanced to borrowers. Quantum provides development and bridging finance to SME housebuilders and property investors across England and Wales, offering loans typically between £1m and £30m. The lender has financed approximately 4,000 homes since its 2023 founding and passed £1bn in cumulative funding during the summer. The commitment contrasts with pressure elsewhere in development finance, where firms face challenges from build-cost inflation and subdued markets. Quantum also partners with alternative investment manager AB CarVal for long-term funding.
