Requirements
  • A graduate degree in Electrical Engineering, Communications Engineering, or a related field is required; a PhD is strongly preferred.
  • At least 12 years of experience in wireless communications system architecture for advanced software-defined radio systems.
  • Experience owning end-to-end communication signal chains, including cascaded error budgeting, quantization trade-offs, and performance modeling across radio-frequency, analog-to-digital converter, digital-to-analog converter, and digital signal processing blocks.
  • Deep expertise in multiple-input multiple-output and multi-user spatial processing architectures.
  • Deep expertise in channel estimation.
  • Deep expertise in signal-to-noise ratio and phase-noise budgets and mapping them into mixed-signal design requirements.
  • System-level modeling experience using MATLAB or Python.
  • Ability to articulate complex system decisions to internal engineering teams and senior-level customers.
  • Proven leadership defining specifications consumed by register-transfer-level design, mixed-signal design, verification, and system validation teams.
  • Strong customer communication skills and comfort presenting architectural trade-offs to vice president- and chief technology officer-level stakeholders.
Responsibilities
  • Define system architecture for next-generation multi-antenna and software-defined radio communication platforms, influencing product strategy and long-term roadmap planning.
  • Lead technical engagement with strategic customers, represent system trade-offs, negotiate performance specifications, and align joint integration plans.
  • Architect and maintain MATLAB and analytical models covering the full signal chain, including channel modeling, quantization-noise allocation, signal-to-noise-ratio budgeting, radio-frequency non-linearities, and digital signal processing algorithm constraints.
  • Generate precise block-level specifications for digital baseband, calibration engines, channel processing, mixed-signal converters, and radio-frequency interfacing elements.
  • Drive alignment among digital architecture, signal-processing algorithms, mixed-signal circuit selections, analog-to-digital and digital-to-analog converter dynamic-range decisions, local-oscillator and subsystem-noise considerations, and thermal and power constraints.
  • Collaborate with validation and silicon bring-up teams to ensure post-silicon results trace back to modeled assumptions.
  • Define measurement-level key performance indicators and debugging methodologies when deviations arise.
  • Provide architectural guidance to system engineers, signal-processing developers, and hardware design teams.
  • Develop reusable models, internal best practices, and system-level methodologies.
  • Participate in internal architecture reviews, contribute to core intellectual-property innovation strategy, and represent the company in technical engagements, standards-relevant discussions, and key customer milestones.
