Nordstrom Rack is returning to San Francisco.

Nordstrom Rack is returning to San Francisco. Published October 15, 2026 11:35 AM PDT The brief. * * A new Nordstrom Rack store will open in Union Square after the retailer closed its two remaining stores in San Francisco. * The new store will be located at 2 Stockton St., and the 51,500-square-foot space is set to open in fall 2027 * Nordstrom Rack is the latest retailer to announce a comeback to the city. SAN FRANCISCO - Three years after its San Francisco stores were shut down, Nordstrom Rack is returning to the city with a new Union Square location. The new store will be located at 2 Stockton St., and the 51,500-square-foot space is set to open in fall 2027, Nordstrom announced on Wednesday. Return to San Francisco. What they're saying: "Nordstrom has a long history in San Francisco, and we're excited to bring Nordstrom Rack back downtown. The city has many wonderful assets, and it has clearly built momentum in making downtown a great place for customers. We look forward to welcoming new and returning Nordstrom and Nordstrom Rack customers to our store," said Erik Nordstrom, co-CEO of Nordstrom. The previous Nordstrom Rack at 901 Market Street closed in the summer of 2023, along with the flagship Nordstrom at the former Westfield Centre. The Nordstrom locations were only two in a bevy of retailers who stopped doing business in the city - and particularly the now defunct downtown shopping mall - in the wake of economic struggles following the COVID-19 pandemic. Then-Chief Stores Officer Jamie Nordstrom said at the time that the decision was made primarily due to declining foot traffic, and that the company would instead focus on its other Bay Area stores. "Three years ago, companies were leaving San Francisco. Today, they want to be here, and Nordstrom Rack's decision to return to the heart of our city is another sign of the growing confidence in San Francisco. We're making our streets safer and cleaner, bringing people back downtown, cutting red tape, and creating the conditions for businesses to succeed," said San Francisco Mayor Daniel Lurie. "I'm thrilled that Nordstrom is choosing to invest in San Francisco again and look forward to welcoming Nordstrom Rack to 2 Stockton Street as we continue building on our city's momentum." SF retail resurgence. Dig deeper: Nordstrom Rack is the latest store to announce a comeback to the city, indicating a resurgence in the city's long-troubled retail scene. Earlier this month, Japanese fashion label Uniqlo opened a brick-and-mortar location at the corner of Market and 4th Streets, its first in the city since the brand closed its Powell Street store in 2021.

Published Oct 8, 2026 4:01 PM EDT Nordstrom Rack opens stores in Marlton and Ramsey, New Jersey, on Thursday, Oct. 8. Two more New Jersey stores, in East Brunswick and Deptford, follow on Oct. 29. The Marlton and Ramsey stores each cover 25,000 to 30,000 square feet of retail space, according to The Sun. Shoppers will find 30% to 70% off regular prices on clothing, shoes, beauty products, accessories, and home decor. Both grand openings come with a raffle for a $1,000 gift card. Customers who arrive early get a chance to win. Giveaways and a coffee cart will be on hand too. The retailer held an invite-only shopping party for the Marlton store on Oct. 6, from 4 to 8 p.m. Guests who signed up ahead of time enjoyed light snacks and music, and they got first pick of the new items on the shelves. The East Brunswick and Deptford stores will hold their own parties on Oct. 27, from 4 to 8 p.m. Their grand openings bring the same $1,000 gift card raffle. "Nordstrom Rack will be a great addition to the established tenant line up at this premier shopping center in Marlton.," said Sean McCloskey, CEO of Penn Group of Companies, in a press release. These openings are part of a nationwide push. The chain plans more than 20 new stores by the end of the year. Stores in other states open through the end of October, according to USA Today. Spokane, Washington, opens Oct. 15. Four more open on Oct. 22: Bloomingdale, Illinois; Park City, Utah; Williamsburg, Virginia; and Tampa, Florida. Eleven stores open Oct. 29. Nordstrom said workers at both sites could move to other roles in the company. The Marlton store sits at 730 NJ Route 73 South, in Willow Ridge Plaza. The Ramsey store is at 255 Interstate Shop Center. Find the East Brunswick store at 755 State Route 18. The Deptford store is at 1775 Deptford Center Road, in Deptford Town Center.

New campaign dives deep for Bowie's birthday.

New campaign dives deep for Bowie's birthday. October 5, 2026 David Bowie may be gone, but he's clearly never left the building. Bowie80, a global campaign marking what would have been the rock god's 80th birthday on Jan. 8, 2027, has launched a year's worth of events, exhibits, merch, performances and other Bowie business. First up: Nordstrom is getting in on the act with Bowie80 shops in its Seattle, NYC and Chicago stores and online featuring limited-edition collections by the likes of Marc Jacobs, Paul Smith, AllSaints and Undercover. Because if anyone could make department-store retail feel like performance art, well... The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame will host a Bowie80 pop-up from mid-November through January, with birthday-weekend programming including music, trivia, educational events, photo ops and a photography exhibition displaying some never-before-seen pics. Meanwhile, in February, the Morrison Hotel Gallery will open Strange Fascination in New York and West Hollywood, bringing together career-spanning and other previously unreleased photos. Then there's BOWIE (breaking) GLASS, a new symphonic production pairing Bowie's original recordings with live performers and orchestra alongside the music of Philip Glass. The show premieres in Copenhagen this spring. The exhibition David Bowie: You're Not Alone will expand from London to Manchester, Brighton and Hamburg, while the V&A's David Bowie: On Tour continues its U.K. run with stops in Dundee and Blackpool. Naturally, there will be merch - lots of it - with new Bowie80 collections rolling out through the official Bowie store and a parade of licensees. More projects are promised throughout 2027, all being funneled through the newly launched Bowie80 site. The shape-shifting artist died in January 2016 at the age of 69; his final album, | (Blackstar), won five Grammys.

Nordstrom opens gourmet market at NYC pop-up.

Nordstrom opens gourmet market at NYC pop-up. 02/10/2026 by Jacqueline Mercer Derma Desk Nordstrom is adding a gourmet food and pantry boutique to its New York City pop-up location. Named The Corner Market, it offers comestibles and housewares sourced both locally and internationally, emphasizing upscale gift options. The venue opened on Monday and will remain in operation until Oct. 10, the official Retail Dive press release states. Nordstrom's new space will feature products from over 50 brands, including Fishs Eddy, Fishwife, Rifle Paper, and Monte's Fine Foods, offering a range of housewares, pantry staples, and entertaining supplies. Personalized gift boxes can be created, with custom assortment prices starting at $20, and packaging options including wood boxes, gift wrap boxes, and engraving. The Corner is Nordstrom's concept space, launched in 2024, which has previously hosted limited-time shops, such as Bode apparel, and collaborations with brands like Nike, Skims, New Balance, and Ugg. It also partnered with Adidas for the FIFA World Cup 2026 in June and with Polo Ralph Lauren for the U.S. Open, which ended on Sept. 20. The Corner Market details. Nordstrom's latest venture, The Corner Market, offers a curated selection of gourmet goods and hosting essentials at various price points, as stated in the release. Although not a traditional food hall, it features luxury items like candy from BonBon, jams from Jamagansett, sea salt from Jacobsen Salt Co., and mixers from Filthy Foods, showcasing a range of high-end comestibles. The Corner Market will also carry home goods from Nordstrom's private label, Nordstrom Made, as well as from brands like Fredericks & Mae, Addison Ross London, and Maegen. This expansion allows Nordstrom to diversify its offerings, building on its existing services, which include six restaurants and bars, shoe repair, and piercing at its New York City flagship store. Last year, Nordstrom New York promoted its services, which also include alterations and an interactive beauty floor, by launching the second part of its "Nordstrom for Everything New York" campaign in conjunction with grocery store Zabar's, the American Museum of Natural History, filmmaker Spike Lee and others. Since going private, the company no longer releases earnings reports. However, it reported earlier this year that total sales rose 7% year over year in 2025 to almost $16 billion, with the highest comps in more than ten years.
