Requirements
  • At least ten years of experience in heavy civil or concrete construction.
  • At least five years of experience in concrete or heavy civil construction as a job site leader.
  • Ability to interpret complex blueprints, site plans, and topographical specifications.
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, project management software, and the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety certification is required.
  • Ability to work in office and field settings, including high and low temperatures, areas close to traffic, loud and frequent noises, confined spaces, heights, and indoor/outdoor environments.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment background check and drug test.
Responsibilities
  • Track and manage project budgets and manpower utilization across job tasks in coordination with the project management team.
  • Review the Field Production Report from Procore daily and validate the accuracy of manhours and production quantities.
  • Create and maintain a project-specific six-week look-ahead manpower and asset schedule for weekly distribution to the project manager and general supervision.
  • Ensure manpower and equipment scheduling and mobilization are complete for each job and communicated to project teams by 5:00 p.m. the day prior.
  • Ensure approval from the Fessler & Bowman project manager for time-and-materials and change-order work before starting field production.
  • Direct and oversee daily operations across multiple locations, ensuring effective allocation of resources, labor, and equipment.
  • Develop and mentor concrete support crews, including recruiting, performance management, mentoring, and training.
  • Review and approve the previous day's timesheets and daily reports by 10:00 a.m. and address issues with the team.
  • Recommend and oversee equipment and staffing needs for assigned projects.
  • Validate and schedule equipment, forms, and shoring for each job.
  • Implement company standards for means and methods, constructability decisions, and sequencing, including pour sizes, layouts, and staging, while ensuring project quality standards.
  • Hold foremen and site superintendents accountable for meeting production rates on assigned jobs.
  • Review project schedules to ensure manpower, materials, and subcontractors are staged and ready.
  • Hold field teams accountable for completing daily safety inspections, toolbox talks, and job-site cleanliness activities.
  • Ensure daily man-hour targets are met on assigned jobs.
  • Communicate constantly with the General Superintendent so job progress is understood and risks are evaluated and mitigated.
  • Validate that Miss Dig/811/One Call requirements have been completed for all projects.
  • Review equipment utilization and driving optimization when feasible.
  • Resolve conflicts and disputes to minimize delays and claims.
  • Instruct and enforce field staff compliance with project processes, policies, and procedures.
  • Manage subcontractors and vendors across all sites, ensuring adherence to contractual obligations and performance standards.
  • Communicate and uphold the company's commitment to integrity and its Code of Ethics.
  • Perform other relevant tasks as assigned.
