Corgi hires ex-Chubb executive to lead AI underwriting.

Corgi hires ex-Chubb executive to lead AI underwriting. October 19, 2026 Corgi Insurance, an AI-native insurance carrier serving high-growth businesses, has appointed former Chubb assistant vice president James Kullman as head of underwriting for North America, bringing nearly 15 years of commercial insurance experience to its AI-driven underwriting strategy. Kullman joins Corgi with experience spanning risk assessment, portfolio management, product development and underwriting strategy. His most recent role at Chubb was Pacific North region underwriting manager for its North American small and lower middle-market business. Before joining Chubb, Kullman held underwriting positions at CNA Insurance, The Hartford and Liberty Mutual, working across construction risks, middle-market clients and property and casualty insurance. At Corgi, he will oversee commercial underwriting operations across North America, with responsibility for applying AI to risk selection, underwriting guidelines, portfolio management and regulatory compliance. The company aims to combine traditional underwriting expertise with AI-supported tools and workflows to improve the speed, efficiency and accessibility of commercial insurance. Corgi is developing a full-stack insurance platform that combines proprietary underwriting technology, internally managed claims handling and its own insurance infrastructure. By bringing these capabilities together, the company aims to streamline how businesses obtain coverage while maintaining its approach to risk selection. Kullman's appointment reflects Corgi's efforts to expand its commercial insurance capabilities by combining experienced underwriting leadership with technology designed to modernise insurance processes. The company is also developing tools intended to change how carriers, brokers and policyholders interact. Corgi head of underwriting for North America James Kullman said, "Commercial insurance has relied on many of the same processes for decades. AI gives us an opportunity to rethink how underwriting works, from how we evaluate risk to how quickly we can deliver a quote." He added, "I'm excited to bring my experience in traditional underwriting to a team that is building new technology and infrastructure for the industry." Enjoying the stories? Investors.
