This role is part of the Lunar Permanence business unit, which develops Blue Origin’s multiple Blue Moon lander product lines. To further Blue Origin’s mission of having millions of people living and working in space, we are building sustainable infrastructure for our transport of crew and cargo from Earth to the lunar surface.
As part of a hardworking team of diverse engineers, you will support instrumentation and testing for the Zero Boil Off (ZBO) cryocooler program at Blue Origin. Your focus will be on the lab architecture, hardware, and data acquisition. You will share in the team’s impact on all aspects of ground systems testing for developmental and flight asset testing. You will develop test methods, ground support equipment, and test procedures to efficiently complete integrated system testing for multiple test campaigns.

Because of the need for hands-on work, this position requires on-site work at Kent, WA.
Travel: Position nominally has about 10% travel with infrequent select periods up to 25% to support testing at remote sites.
Responsibilities:
Work independently to develop test plans, test procedures and execute tests ensuring all steps and processes are followed, while being accountable for the safety of hardware and personnel involved in the test
Participate in the requirements, design, architecture, procurement, build, integration, and checkout of electrical test equipment.
Create and release drawings of electrical hardware infrastructure, rack layouts, harnesses, breakout boxes/panels, power distribution, and grounding.
Identify and procure equipment, and coordinate with technicians for the build, assembly, and installation of equipment and harnesses.
Support the integration of flight avionics, hardware, operator consoles, and test equipment to verify the requirements and performance of units under test.
Maintain configuration control of the drawings for test assets and electrical ground support equipment
Support problem investigation and resolution
Minimum Qualifications:
B.S. degree in electrical engineering, aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, or related technical degree
2+ years industry experience with electrical/instrumentation systems testing
Experience planning, executing, and reporting electronics testing
Ability to read and produce electrical schematics and wiring diagrams
Proficiency in the use of standard electronic lab test equipment (oscilloscopes, DMMs, power meters, data acquisition cards, etc)
A strong safety record
Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and strengthen our culture of inclusion
Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
Preferred Qualifications:
4+ years experience with a background in electrical ground support and instrumentation design for aerospace applications
Experience designing avionics labs, electrical ground support equipment, and/or test assets for hardware in the loop testing
Familiarity with sensors including linear variable differential transformers, resistance temperature detectors, thermocouples, pressure transducers, and resolvers
Experience with test facility instrumentation and Data Acquisition and Control Systems
Experience with high voltage, 3-phase power systems
Experience with Zuken, Windchill, and JAMA
Proficiency in LabView, Python, and MATLAB
Compensation Range for:
WA applicants is $109,980.00-$153,972.00
Other site ranges may differ
