Netflix drops 'The Altruists' trailer on FTX fraud with Sam Bankman-Fried's 25-year sentence

Netflix has released the first trailer for "The Altruists", an eight-episode series dramatising the FTX collapse and Sam Bankman-Fried's cryptocurrency fraud scheme. The show launches on 19 November. Anthony Boyle stars as Bankman-Fried, with Julia Garner playing Caroline Ellison, the former crypto executive and his ex-girlfriend. Creator Graham Moore said the series depicts how "Sam and Caroline, with the very best of intentions, talked each other and themselves into committing a number of terrible crimes". Bankman-Fried was sentenced to 25 years in prison in 2024 after being found guilty of seven counts of fraud and conspiracy. He remains imprisoned at a low-security federal facility in California, with a projected release date of Christmas Day 2043. Ellison pleaded guilty and served about 11 months in prison. Netflix and Until Dawn creators are launching an interactive horror game based on The Conjuring.

Netflix and Until Dawn creators are launching an interactive horror game based on The Conjuring. Spooky season is off to a good start, as Netflix releases a new interactive game set in the universe of The Conjuring, a popular series of horror movies. The Conjuring: Unspoken, developed by interactive horror experts Supermassive Games, becomes available Oct. 13 - making it this year's perfect Halloween activity. The Conjuring is an expansive horror series that began in 2013. It consists of nine movies, including spin-offs. Despite Ed and Lorraine Warren's chapter coming to a close in Last Rites (2025), the universe will continue to grow with the release of a new prequel, The Conjuring: First Communion (2027). Before then, fans will have the pleasure of experiencing the series in a completely different way, as it joins the world of video games in Netflix's latest interactive story. Netflix dips its toes in The Conjuring universe. Netflix worked with Supermassive Games to develop The Conjuring: Unspoken. The studio is known for Until Dawn and other dark narrative games in which players shape the outcome of the story. Until Dawn is one of the most popular games in its genre, so Netflix couldn't have chosen a better development studio for this project. In The Conjuring: Unspoken, gamers play as Francesca Noakes, a demonologist who heads to England to investigate mysterious happenings at the Red Lion Inn. During this experience, players will use their phones as a ghost-hunting tool. It will work as an electromagnetic reader, infrared camera, and spirit box. Players will come across several bone-chilling encounters, but they must persist to complete their goal: find and capture the ghosts haunting the Cooper family. Unspoken takes place in The Conjuring universe, but there is no mention of Ed and Lorraine Warren in the trailer. It is possible that they will make an appearance at some point in the game, as their ventures have taken them to England before (The Conjuring 2). However, this could be a spin-off series, like The Nun and Annabelle, that is somehow connected to The Conjuring. As of now, The Conjuring: Unspoken is exclusive to Netflix, and there are no indications that it will be coming to consoles or PC. Therefore, fans will only be able to play it if they have a Netflix subscription. If you're a fan of Black Mirror: Bandersnatch or Unhinged, The Conjuring: Unspoken should be right up your alley.
