Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree; hospitality or a related industry is preferred.
  • Seven to ten years of progressive leadership experience in hospitality, venue, or event management.
  • Proven success driving revenue growth, owning profit and loss, and executing strategic planning.
  • Experience managing both sales and operations teams in large-scale venues.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of off-site catering and event operations.
  • Basic knowledge of financial management, including gross profitability, budget design and management, financial analysis, and return on investment.
  • Ability to plan, implement, and support systems in a rapidly growing company.
  • Proven leadership ability to inspire others to work toward common goals and reach their potential.
  • Ability to identify and resolve issues and alert executive leadership to potential areas of liability.
  • Ability to function independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to prepare and deliver clear, concise reports and presentations for the target audience.
  • Strong project management experience and ability to manage multiple priorities.

  • Ability to meet the listed physical demands, including occasionally standing, walking, sitting, reaching, climbing stairs and ladders, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, talking, hearing, tasting, and smelling, and regularly lifting or moving up to 50 pounds.
Responsibilities
  • Lead venue sales efforts, including prospecting, networking, conducting site visits, negotiating contracts, and closing new business.
  • Drive venue programming strategies for corporate events, social gatherings, community partnerships, and programming to increase utilization during off-peak periods.
  • Collaborate with Marketing on campaigns, media, and community engagement to position Allium as a premier venue in Chicago.
  • Build and maintain relationships with clients, vendors, and local business associations to drive repeat and referral business.
  • Own Allium's profit and loss, including budgeting, forecasting, and profitability management.
  • Develop and execute annual business and sales plans with measurable revenue and utilization goals.
  • Analyze key performance indicators, including sales pipeline, occupancy, event profitability, and labor percentage, and provide monthly reporting and course correction.
  • Partner with Finance to monitor costs, manage contracts, and ensure accurate billing and collections.
  • Oversee the caterer to ensure flawless event execution and high guest service standards.
  • Develop and enforce standard operating procedures for event operations, safety, and client service.
  • Partner with Facilities to ensure preventive maintenance and venue readiness.
  • Ensure compliance with city and state requirements, including liquor licensing, fire safety, the Americans with Disabilities Act, and public assembly permits.
  • Supervise the Venue Operations Supervisors.
  • Lead, mentor, and coach the team to ensure high performance, accountability, and continuous professional development.
  • Partner with Human Resources to implement employee training, recognition, and engagement programs.
  • Act as the face of Allium with clients, partners, and the Fulton Market community.
  • Monitor client satisfaction, address feedback promptly, and implement service improvements.
  • Serve as the escalation point for client issues, vendor disputes, and emergency situations.
