Requirements
  • Experience with the project management of technical projects
  • Bachelors or equivalent degree in RF/Microwave Design, EMC Design, Antenna Design, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 7+ years of experience in regulatory compliance around wireless, EMC, testing and certification
  • 7+ years of experience in one or more wireless technologies (WLAN/BT/Zigbee/Cellular) with hands on compliance testing, data interpretation and debug experience
  • Experience in submissions for official certification through relevant compliance bodies such as FCC, ISED, CE NB, TELEC, WPC
  • Experience working with Asia-based manufacturing partners and test labs
  • Experience in documenting regulatory requirements extracted from compliance standards
  • Experience in compliance test setup in semi-anechoic chambers and demonstrated experience with test equipments like signal generator, spectrum analyzer, network analyzer, call box
Responsibilities
  • Drive global regulatory strategy across our hardware portfolio and launch countries, working closely with product management and design teams to research and specify regulatory and certification requirements
  • Lead engagement with industry bodies and regulatory authorities to influence standards and regulations, including domestic (FCC) and international certifications (ISED/CE/MIC), NRTLs, and other regulatory bodies
  • Develop scalable mechanisms for regulatory intelligence, risk assessment, and compliance processes, planning and directing compliance testing of hardware platforms, devices, and accessories
  • Guide cross-functional teams through complex regulatory challenges to achieve business-critical goals, supporting the design team through product execution to meet all applicable hardware compliance requirements
  • Create strategic initiatives to address emerging regulatory challenges while enabling innovation, performing fast-paced, detailed, and results-oriented independent research when necessary
  • Anticipate bottlenecks and develop risk mitigation strategies in fast-paced, ambiguous environments, delivering concise and informative compliance updates to management
  • Lead creative problem-solving of technical and non-technical regulatory challenges, collaborating with the legal team to navigate complex compliance issues
  • Communicate regulatory strategies and risks effectively to senior leadership as necessary
  • Build strong relationships with public policy, legal, and business stakeholders, including manufacturing partners to ensure compliance of NPI and sustaining products
  • Monitor global regulatory landscapes and assess impact on product development strategies
Desired Qualifications
  • Master's or PhD degree in RF/Microwave Design, EMC Design, Antenna Design, a related field, or equivalent practical experience
  • Experience in chipset design, RF architectural design
  • Experience in consumer electronics or technology sector
  • Track record of successful engagement with FCC OET, ISED and other regulatory agencies
  • Experience developing technical implementation strategies for emerging wireless technologies
  • Knowledge of global spectrum regulations, requirements and certification processes
  • Experience solving ambiguous regulatory RF/EMI/EMC challenges and applying research principles as necessary
  • EMC testing and debugging experience with prior hands-on experience with troubleshooting techniques
  • Strong network within regulatory authorities and industry organizations
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, along with the ability to think strategically and develop solutions quickly and effectively.
  • Organizational and project/program management skills

Amazon blocks sideloading on new Fire Sticks with proprietary Vega OS

Amazon's newest Fire Sticks will no longer support sideloading of apps from outside its official app store. The company updated its developer website to confirm that all future Fire TV Sticks, starting with the Fire TV Stick 4K Select released in October, will run on Vega OS, Amazon's proprietary operating system that blocks unofficial apps. The newly announced Fire TV Stick HD includes a notice stating the device prevents sideloading for "enhanced security". Vega OS only permits apps published in the Amazon Appstore, though developers can still sideload on registered devices. Amazon's shift from Fire OS, an Android fork that allowed sideloading, comes amid pressure from anti-piracy groups. The move gives Amazon greater control whilst limiting access to third-party apps, affecting users who expanded device functionality beyond Amazon's ecosystem.

Goldman Sachs has lowered its price target on Amazon to $275 from $280 whilst maintaining a Buy rating ahead of the company's earnings report on 30 April 2026. The revised target still implies upside from the current share price of around $240. Amazon's AI push through AWS has reached an annualised revenue run rate exceeding $15 billion, whilst its chip business surpassed $20 billion in revenue with triple-digit growth.
