Requirements
  • Must possess a high school diploma or equivalency.
  • Must have at least one year of experience in court reporting.
  • Must hold the National Court Reporters Association Registered Professional Reporter (RPR) certification or an equivalent credential.
  • Candidate should have consecutive employment in a position with comparable responsibilities within the past five years.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and related tools; must be able to use a computer to communicate via email.
  • Technical proficiency to speak, understand, read, and write English fluently.
Responsibilities
  • Provide Court Reporting Services to the Western States Network Consortium.
  • Support requirements for Assist program and project management in a functional area.
  • Produce accurate, timely, appropriately bound and indexed transcribed testimony from witnesses.
  • Be punctual and present at relevant proceedings; demonstrate a professional demeanor.
  • Provide all necessary equipment and materials to perform duties and accomplish deliverables.
  • Read portions of the transcript during proceedings in English at the request of the board or presiding body; clarify inaudible statements if asked.
  • Administer oaths; ensure that depositions are transcribed by a duly authorized notary.
  • Ensure work products are thorough, accurate, appropriately documented, and comply with established criteria.
  • Travel occasionally for meetings, events, site visits, or training as approved.
  • Location work shall be conducted at or near Audie L. Murphy VA Hospital, STVHCS.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with Administrative Investigation Board processes, Equal Opportunity Hearing, Human Resources Management Merit System Protection Board (MSPB), or arbitration hearings is preferred.
