Requirements
  • At least 5 years of experience building and operating production infrastructure, focused on machine learning workloads such as training, inference, or data pipelines.
  • Hands-on experience with Kubernetes on Amazon Web Services or Google Cloud Platform, ideally involving graphics processing unit workloads.
  • Strong computer science fundamentals and system design skills.
  • Experience working effectively in ambiguous environments without an established playbook.
Responsibilities
  • Build the graphics processing unit compute layer, including Kubernetes orchestration for graphics processing unit workloads, resource allocation, scheduling, multi-tenancy, and cost management.
  • Build the inference layer, including model loading, autoscaling, batching, and serving, while owning customer-facing latency and throughput.
  • Own the machine learning pipeline end to end, including data ingestion, preprocessing, training and fine-tuning jobs, and recovery when multi-node jobs fail.
  • Work directly with customers to debug fine-tuning jobs and build observability that tracks model performance and resource health in real time.
  • Own platform reliability through incident response, on-call support, and maintaining platform availability as usage grows.
  • Shape technical direction through infrastructure and security build-versus-buy decisions and by setting engineering standards.
  • Help hire the engineering team.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with graphics processing unit workloads on Kubernetes.

Harell Data provides an end-to-end scientific AI infrastructure that lets data owners securely share proprietary datasets with AI modelers without exposing raw data. Its platform brings high-performance GPU compute and an orchestration layer directly to the data (compute-to-data) for on-demand training, fine-tuning, and inference, with data lineage tracking so information never leaves the secure environment. Unlike typical data marketplaces, data creators earn a direct share of compute revenue when their datasets are used for model training, creating a tangible monetization path for scientific data. The goal is to accelerate discovery in drug discovery and materials science by removing bottlenecks around data access, organization, and secure collaboration for AI model development.

Simplify's Take

What believers are saying

  • Early access opened August 17, 2026, signaling immediate product availability.
  • A-Alpha Bio and Adaptive bring unusually rich antibody and TCR datasets.
  • Funding from Fuse and Cercano gives runway for Bellevue hiring and compute expansion.

What critics are saying

  • August 2026 depends on two founding datasets; partner churn would gut product value.
  • CoreWeave and cloud giants can undercut pricing before Harell reaches scale.
  • Revenue-sharing on valuable scientific data invites rights disputes and slow enterprise adoption.

What makes Harell Data unique

  • August 2026 launch pairs proprietary datasets with compute-to-data infrastructure.
  • Harlan Robins brings Adaptive Biotechnologies scientific credibility and domain access.
  • Blind benchmarking and public leaderboards create a scientific marketplace, not generic cloud.
