About the job

Requirements
  • Build and ship production machine learning and large language model systems, including retrieval-augmented generation, fine-tuning, evaluation systems, and agent orchestration, with 3–8 years of experience.
  • Use Hugging Face, LangChain, vector databases, prompt engineering, and modern machine learning operations tools.
  • Design benchmark suites, track model quality over time, and measure meaningful model performance.
  • Own technical outcomes and demonstrate experience setting technical direction, mentoring teammates, or leading cross-functional projects.
Responsibilities
  • Build production AI agents for Gordian Search, Research, and Compose that produce truthful, complete, and auditable outputs.
  • Design evaluation infrastructure, including benchmarking suites and quality metrics that detect regressions before customers do.
  • Own fine-tuning pipelines, generate synthetic data, run ablation studies, and deploy domain-adapted models for nuclear regulatory tasks.
  • Develop AI-accelerated weather simulations for site qualification and environmental impact assessments.
  • Develop physics-informed design safety analyses using world models for thermal hydraulics, neutronics, and structural integrity.
  • Develop vision and physics models for automated document analysis, construction monitoring, and operational anomaly detection.
  • Develop agentic workflows that improve through regulatory submissions and feedback.
  • Work directly with NVIDIA's research team using NeMo, Modulus, and Omniverse tools.
  • Set technical direction for model selection, prompt design, guardrails, physics-AI integration, and the machine learning operations stack.
  • Mentor and lead other AI engineers as the team scales, including hiring and guiding future team members.
  • Ship model improvements, continuously operate the evaluation framework, improve inference latency or benchmark accuracy, prototype a frontier capability, set the technical roadmap, and build core AI infrastructure.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with physics-informed neural networks, scientific computing, or simulation acceleration.
  • Published research in machine learning or artificial intelligence, or contributions to open-source machine learning frameworks.
  • Deep familiarity with NVIDIA tools, including NeMo, Modulus, and CUDA optimization.
  • A background in physics, engineering, or computational science.
  • Experience with physics-informed AI, simulation acceleration, or scientific computing.

What believers are saying

  • March 26, 2026 DOE collaboration gives Everstar government credibility and enterprise references.
  • November 2025 funding lifted total capital to $9.5 million, extending runway.
  • August 2026 Gordian added SOC 2, FedRAMP readiness, and on-prem deployment for regulated buyers.

What critics are saying

  • NRC's roughly 40 rulemakings through November 2026 can commoditize Everstar's workflow.
  • Everstar depends on nuclear licensing demand; reactor slowdowns would freeze sales by 2027.
  • OpenAI, Microsoft, and in-house DOE teams can replicate document conversion, crushing margins.

What makes Everstar unique

  • Everstar built Gordian for NRC, DOE, and allied governments with audit-ready traces.
  • March 26, 2026 DOE Genesis Mission demo cut safety-analysis drafting from weeks to one day.
  • Everstar pairs nuclear expertise with AI, plus EXCEL Services archives and specialists.

Everstar's AI cuts nuclear licensing work from 6 weeks to 1 day in DOE collaboration

Everstar has announced its collaboration with the US Department of Energy, Idaho National Laboratory, Argonne National Laboratory and Microsoft as part of the DOE's Genesis Mission to accelerate advancements in nuclear energy. The New York-based startup's Gordian AI platform converted a DOE safety analysis document into sections equivalent to an NRC licence application in one day, a process that typically takes experts four to six weeks. The company is developing AI tools to address bottlenecks across the nuclear energy value chain, including specialised models for interpreting engineering schematics, physics-based simulation through NVIDIA Omniverse for reactor design, and sensor integrations for nuclear-grade manufacturing. Everstar aims to reduce the cost of building American nuclear reactors by an order of magnitude whilst supporting deployment of 300 gigawatts of additional nuclear capacity.
