Requirements
  • The candidate must graduate from an accredited Associate's Degree in Nursing or Nursing Diploma program.
  • Registered nurses without a Bachelor's degree in Nursing or higher are encouraged to enroll in an appropriate Bachelor of Science in Nursing program within two years of starting and must complete it within seven years, subject to the stated historical exceptions.
  • The candidate must have twelve months of appropriate clinical experience.
  • Basic Life Support certification is required.
  • The candidate must be able to lift 50 pounds, push or pull 250 pounds, and carry 25 pounds.
  • The candidate must hold current or compact registered nurse licensure in North Carolina.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification must be obtained within six months of hire.
  • The candidate must work on site for eight-hour day shifts during standard business hours, Monday through Friday, with no weekends or holidays.
Responsibilities
  • Manage the nurse line for telephone triage, document encounters, follow clinic protocols, inform providers as indicated, monitor and address triage-related in-basket tasks, handle MyChart patient advice and cardiac clearance forms, and collaborate with internal and external members of patients' care teams.
  • Evaluate, assess, and educate patients before procedures and alert physicians when modifications are needed before cardiac ultrasound procedures.
  • Start intravenous lines before intravenous furosemide therapy procedures, calculate doses according to physician orders, and monitor patients.
  • Handle prescription refills according to established protocols.
  • Manage and perform prothrombin time/international normalized ratio tests and provide warfarin education.
  • Maintain department logs, educational materials, and reports required for accreditation and Joint Commission accreditation, including medication, equipment, and crash-cart records.
  • Perform patient intake, including vital signs, visit information, and other clinical information based on patient assessments and clinic staffing needs.
  • Serve as a clinical resource for Unlicensed Assistive Personnel.
  • Participate in performance-improvement projects and act as a liaison for clinic-related projects.
  • Assist in training new staff for cross-coverage and educational purposes.
  • Perform other related duties incidental to the described work.
Desired Qualifications
  • Cardiology experience is preferred.
  • Experience in triage is preferred.
