The acquisition closed on October 1, 2026, with the financing details announced subsequently. Stryten is backed by Atlas Holdings, while C&D Trojan was previously owned by KPS Capital Partners. The combined business operates 18 battery manufacturing and component facilities across the United States, Mexico and China, employing approximately 4,800 people. Its products include advanced lead, lithium and vanadium flow batteries serving industrial, transportation, telecommunications, data-centre and energy infrastructure customers. Stryten plans additional investment in domestic manufacturing and battery technology development. Dos Grados Acquires More Than 500 MW of Solar Projects from Akuo in Spain Spanish renewable-energy developer Dos Grados has signed an agreement to acquire three solar photovoltaic projects exceeding 500 MW from French renewable-energy company Akuo. The projects are in early development across Castilla y León and Andalusia. Founded in 2019, Dos Grados already operates approximately 600 MW of renewable-energy assets across Spain and Portugal, including solar, wind and storage facilities. The acquisition substantially increases its Spanish solar development pipeline. Dos Grados intends to advance permitting and development while considering project designs that accommodate agricultural and other land uses. Akuo is transferring projects it developed during the early stages. The companies did not disclose the purchase consideration, individual project capacities or expected construction schedules. Discover more Electricity Switch Power Plans wind-energy Doral Renewables Brings 900 MW of Mammoth Solar Project Close to Commercial Operation US solar developer Doral Renewables has completed major construction work on 900 MWac of additional capacity at its Mammoth Solar complex in Pulaski County, Indiana. The milestone covers the Mammoth South, Mammoth Central I and Mammoth Central II phases, which are approaching commercial operation. Together with previously developed capacity, the wider project will reach approximately 1.3 GW. Construction of the three latest phases took approximately 18 months, employing around 1,800 workers at peak activity. Installation teams achieved a maximum deployment rate of approximately 20,000 solar panels daily. Doral worked with Bechtel and equipment supplier Nextpower. The developer is also exploring agricultural activities, including livestock grazing and specialty crops, alongside solar generation.

Akuo to construct 220MWh SantasBAT storage system in Portugal. The project is expected to become operational by Q2 2027. French renewable energy producer Akuo has announced plans to construct a battery energy storage system (BESS) with an 80MW power capacity and 220MWh of energy storage in Borba, Portugal. The system will integrate with the existing Santas photovoltaic (PV) plant and is expected to become operational by the second quarter of 2027 (Q2 2027). The SantasBAT project has received nearly €15m ($17.32m) in funding from the PRR - Recovery and Resilience Plan, part of the NextGenerationEU framework. This financial support is intended to accelerate the development of energy storage technologies, strengthening the sustainability and resilience of Portugal's electricity grid. Operational since September 2024, the Santas solar plant currently has an installed capacity of 181MW. The integration of SantasBAT will allow the plant to store excess energy generated during daylight hours for use when demand peaks or solar output drops. This storage capability is comparable to meeting the electricity demands of a city such as Évora for approximately five hours. SantasBAT aims to optimise the use of renewable energy generated at the Santas plant while strengthening supply security and reliability by smoothing the inherent fluctuations in renewable output. This initiative supports Portugal's goal of reaching 85% renewable energy in total electricity generation by 2030, advancing energy independence and decarbonisation efforts. During the construction phase, which runs until mid-2027, Akuo has committed to minimising local impacts, focusing on community safety and respect. Akuo Portugal CEO João Macedo said: "SantasBAT will be a significant instrument for the energy transition that Portugal has been striving to promote within its electricity grid. "Energy storage is a natural next step as renewable capacity grows. By providing essential ancillary services and enabling the shift of electricity generated during the day to periods of higher demand, storage helps reduce reliance on fossil fuels, supports greater integration of renewables and strengthens Portugal's energy independence."
