Nasdaq has entered a definitive agreement to acquire LeveL Markets, one of the leading Alternative Trading Systems in the US. The move advances Nasdaq's strategy to provide institutional-grade solutions for always-on markets as traditional and digital markets converge. LeveL Markets operates the third-largest ATS in the US by trading volume, processing hundreds of millions of shares daily across more than 7,000 symbols. The platform serves over 300 institutional buy-side firms and reaches more than 2,500 clients. Average daily volume grew 56% year-over-year in 2025. Following the acquisition, LeveL Markets will operate within Nasdaq's newly formed Digital Liquidity Networks organisation, led by Roland Chai. The platform will maintain its dedicated management team and continue as a registered ATS under FINRA oversight. The transaction is expected to close following regulatory approvals. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Nasdaq announced the election of all nominated directors to the boards of its US exchanges, including The Nasdaq Stock Market LLC, Nasdaq PHLX LLC, Nasdaq Texas LLC, Nasdaq ISE LLC, Nasdaq MRX LLC, and Nasdaq GEMX LLC. The board comprises ten members with backgrounds spanning legal, financial services, trading, and technology sectors. Notable appointments include Kathlyn Card Beckles, chief legal officer at Verisk Analytics, Michael J. Curran, retired chairman and CEO of Boston Stock Exchange, and Anne Marie Darling, group co-chief operating officer at Barclays. Other directors include Kevin Kennedy from Nasdaq, retired TMX Group CEO Thomas A. Kloet, former New Relic chief data officer Anita Lynch, and representatives from Eastern Bancshares, Susquehanna International Group, Comcast Corporation, and retired Nasdaq executive Thomas A. US stock futures extended gains in overnight trading Monday, with Nasdaq-100 futures up 0.11%, Dow futures climbing 0.22%, and S&P 500 futures rising 0.13%. The moves followed a strong Monday session where the Dow reached a record high, closing up 1%, whilst the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite gained 1.48% and 2.13% respectively. Palantir Technologies drove optimism after reporting a 93% revenue surge in Q2, sending shares up nearly 14% in after-hours trading. Amazon shares reached a record high, joining the $3 trillion valuation club. Looking ahead, Advanced Micro Devices and SpaceX are among major companies reporting results this week, alongside consumer firms including McDonald's, Costco and Disney.
Nasdaq and Miami International Holdings have settled a patent dispute that began in 2017. A court dismissed all related claims with prejudice, confirming Miami International Holdings can operate its exchanges without restriction or a Nasdaq licence. The resolution removes a long-running source of legal uncertainty for Nasdaq. It allows the company to redirect management time and legal resources previously allocated to the case towards its core exchange and technology operations. The court outcome limits Nasdaq's ability to use patents as a competitive tool against rival exchanges. Six Nasdaq patents were invalidated by the Patent Trial and Appeal Board during the litigation. The settlement arrives as Nasdaq reported second-quarter 2026 revenue of $1.5 billion and net income of $507 million. The company continues investing in AI-powered platforms and cloud-based trading technology.
Nasdaq Futures rallied 1.12% as investors piled into AI-related stocks following strong Amazon earnings. Amazon jumped over 12% in pre-market trading after its cloud unit, Amazon Web Services, posted 37% quarterly revenue growth, beating Wall Street's 31% expectation — the fastest growth since 2021. Chip and AI infrastructure stocks gained as tech earnings showed robust demand for AI components. Nasdaq futures received further support from these gains. Apple slumped over 7% in pre-market after providing weaker-than-expected revenue guidance for its fiscal fourth quarter. In previous trading, Microsoft surged over 15% after reporting its fastest cloud-computing revenue growth in four years. Sandisk soared 26% and Micron Technology jumped over 18%. Meta Platforms dropped more than 7% on disappointing revenue forecasts.
