Requirements
  • A high school diploma or General Educational Development credential is required.
  • Two years of experience in information technology support and compliance operations, including Windows systems administration, with progressively complex responsibilities, is required.
  • Experience with concepts, practices, procedures, and tools used to maintain a Windows enterprise infrastructure is required.
  • Experience with security tools such as vulnerability scanners including Nessus, patch management platforms, endpoint protection, and security information and event management solutions such as Splunk is required.
  • Familiarity with compliance frameworks including NIST 800-171, CMMC, and ISO 27001 is required.
  • Strong understanding of Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and other core Windows Server technologies is required.
  • Experience with file server management, network storage such as NAS and SAN, and backup systems is required.
  • Hands-on experience with Windows Server Administration for Windows Server 2016, 2019, or 2022, including installation, configuration, patch management, and troubleshooting, is required.
  • Strong experience in desktop support, including troubleshooting Windows-based operating systems, application issues, and network connectivity problems, is required.
  • Proven experience with PowerShell scripting or other scripting languages such as Python or VBScript to automate and streamline systems administration tasks is required.
  • Experience with basic networking concepts is required.
  • The candidate must obtain a Department of Defense 8570.1/8140 IAT Level II certification, such as CompTIA CySA+ or Security+, within six months of hire.
  • The candidate must be a United States citizen.
  • The candidate must be eligible for access to classified information at the level appropriate to the project requirements.
  • The candidate must be organized, able to plan and coordinate multiple tasks, manage time, solve problems, exercise judgment, work independently with sensitive and confidential information, work as a team member without daily supervision, communicate effectively with client groups, work under pressure, accept supervision, and maintain regular and punctual attendance.
Responsibilities
  • Provide Windows systems administration support for the Advanced Technology Laboratory.
  • Perform compliance monitoring and remediation for Windows, Mac, and server environments in accordance with the NIST framework.
  • Perform Windows desktop and server computer systems installation, configuration, administration, maintenance, troubleshooting, training for junior staff, and end-user support for software, servers, workstations, laptops, and virtual machines.
  • Manage Windows Server backup services and CIFS/SMB storage solution installation, configuration, administration, maintenance, troubleshooting, and escalation.
  • Perform and maintain Windows backup and storage systems audits for compliance with information assurance policies, retention policies, and configuration guidelines.
  • Document and maintain processes, procedures, and configurations for Windows, storage, and backup solution configuration and change management.
  • Maintain computer hardware and software inventories and documentation.
  • Perform other related functions as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field is preferred.
  • Three or more years of experience in Windows systems administration is preferred.
  • Three years of experience managing compliance in Windows, Linux, and Mac environments is preferred.
  • Experience maintaining compliance with industry standards, particularly NIST 800-171 or ISO 27001 controls, is preferred; additional frameworks include COBIT, FedRAMP, and HIPAA.
  • Experience with Linux administration, including Red Hat, Ubuntu, or other Unix-based distributions, is preferred.
  • Experience with automation tools such as Salt, Ansible, or Puppet is preferred.
  • Experience with the ServiceNow ticketing system, including hardware and software asset management, is preferred.
  • Experience maintaining backup and storage infrastructure is preferred.
  • Experience with VMware, Proxmox, Hyper-V/VMM, or other enterprise hypervisor technologies is preferred.
  • A current Department of Defense 8570.1/8140 IAT II or greater certification such as CySA+, Security+, GICSP, or GSEC is preferred.
  • Experience with system configuration management tools such as SCCM/MECM, GPOs, WDS/MST, Intune, or Jamf is preferred.
  • Experience with orchestration software such as Kubernetes, Docker, or Podman is preferred.
  • Experience with source code management tools such as Subversion or Git is preferred.
  • Experience with web and database hosting environments such as IIS, MSSQL, or Oracle is preferred.
  • Experience deploying and maintaining macOS systems is preferred.
