About the company

Kalshi runs a US federally regulated exchange that lets traders speculate on whether future events will occur using event contracts. These contracts are approved by the CFTC and enable positions on outcomes like statistics or legislative results. Traders place bets on events via Kalshi’s trading platform, and the company earns revenue from transaction fees on each trade. Kalshi differentiates itself by being the first federally regulated market for event contracts, focusing on a new asset class within the futures ecosystem, and attracting both individual investors and institutional traders. Its goal is to give participants a regulated venue to hedge or speculate on economically significant events, expanding the scope of traditional futures markets.

Kalshi lets clients borrow against Bitcoin and Ether to fund leveraged futures bets

Kalshi will let some clients post cryptocurrencies as collateral for leveraged perpetual-futures trades, under a new arrangement with digital-asset custodian BitGo Holdings Inc. The company announced the move on Wednesday. Customers of Kalshi Prime, its US-registered futures commission merchant, can borrow against digital assets held at BitGo and use the proceeds to fund margin positions on Kalshi's main exchange. Kalshi Katalyst, a Kalshi Prime lending affiliate, will provide the loans. Eligible assets include Bitcoin, Ether, and stablecoins compliant with the Genius Act. "What we wanted to do was make it possible for customers to stay in crypto," said Kalshi Prime chief executive officer Jeff Bandman. The move could attract crypto-native trading firms and large holders, a segment where Kalshi may trail offshore rival Polymarket. Other custodians are expected to join later.

Webull to offer Kalshi-cleared crypto perpetual futures to US customers from November

Webull plans to offer crypto perpetual futures to US customers from November, through a partnership with prediction market operator Kalshi. The first products will cover Bitcoin and other selected cryptocurrencies. Contracts will be listed on KalshiEX LLC, an exchange regulated by the US Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), and cleared through Kalshi Klear LLC. Eligible customers can trade through their existing Webull Futures accounts. Webull plans to add more products before the end of the year, subject to regulatory review and exchange listing requirements. Perpetual futures have no fixed expiration date and can involve leverage. "Perpetual futures have become a significant part of global derivatives markets, with annual volume reaching more than $90 trillion in 2025," said Webull US chief executive officer Anthony Denier. Webull shares trade at $6.20, up 5%.

Kalshi co-founder credits "no VPs" flat structure for growth to $4B annualised revenue

Kalshi, the prediction market, has grown fast by avoiding formal hierarchy, co-founder and chief operating officer Luana Lopes Lara said. "We don't have 'heads of' or VPs," she told Fortune's Most Powerful Women summit in Santa Barbara, California. Everyone reports to her or is one step away. Lara said this lets the company decide and adjust quickly, and avoid the meetings and red tape that slow growing startups. One research firm estimated in June that Kalshi was on track for $4 billion in annualised revenue, up from $775 million in December. Sports betting drove much of the rise. Dozens of state governments claim Kalshi runs an illegal sports gambling operation. Appeals courts have issued conflicting rulings, and the Supreme Court is expected to rule next year. Lara said she is optimistic Kalshi will prevail.

Kalshi hires former FBI agent to lead anti-money laundering efforts amid regulatory scrutiny

Kalshi has hired former FBI agent Sean Fern to lead its first anti-money laundering team as prediction markets face increasing regulatory scrutiny. Fern, who previously served as a federal prosecutor in Brooklyn and worked on the FBI's international corruption squad, will monitor suspicious activity on the platform. According to TickerTracker, Kalshi has processed $260 billion in bets this year, triple the amount traded in all of 2025. The platform faces mounting pressure over market manipulation and insider trading. Federal regulators recently settled with former Rep. George Santos over market manipulation, whilst prosecutors indicted individuals for allegedly using non-public information on rival platform Polymarket. PitchBook estimates Kalshi's value at around $40 billion. The company has 250 employees and plans to double headcount within six months.

US gambling addiction nonprofit chief resigns after $2M Kalshi donation sparks internal revolt

The executive director of the National Council on Problem Gambling resigned in late September after accepting a $2 million donation from prediction market platform Kalshi without board approval. Heather Maurer, who began the role in January, required directors to sign nondisclosure agreements before revealing the donation at an April conference. When questioned, she acknowledged Kalshi had not agreed to fund safety measures or promote addiction helplines, sparking internal revolt. The controversy prompted several state organisations to sever ties with NCPG, including Washington's Evergreen Council on Problem Gambling and Ohio Casino Control Commission in September. The backlash centred on NCPG creating a separate "financial services and trading" donor category for Kalshi, exempting the platform from public safeguards required of traditional sportsbooks like DraftKings and FanDuel. Kalshi has grown to a valuation above $20 billion.
