- Lead, mentor, train, and hold security supervisors and officers accountable; set expectations for professionalism, integrity, and service.
- Build schedules, oversee timekeeping, approve payroll, and manage labor costs.
- Address performance issues promptly and fairly, and coach team members for growth.
- Serve as the primary point of escalation during incidents or emergencies.
- Review, approve, and reconcile accounts payable invoices related to security services and service calls.
- Manage contracts and vendor relationships for security systems and services.
- Develop and enforce security policies, standard operating procedures, and post orders.
- Conduct audits, drills, and incident reviews.
- Produce incident reports, metrics, and executive summaries as requested.
- Serve as the on-scene leader until relieved by emergency responders.
- Assess situations independently, identify root causes, and implement practical solutions.
- Make sound judgments under pressure and adjust plans as conditions change.
- Anticipate risks and proactively improve security processes.
- Understand and troubleshoot access control systems, including key fobs, smart keys, and smart locks; alarm systems and monitoring platforms; and camera systems, including closed-circuit television and internet protocol cameras.
- Coordinate installations, repairs, and upgrades, and verify work quality.
- Maintain system documentation and access permissions.
- Provide basic information technology troubleshooting support to the security team, including network connectivity, device issues, and user access.
- Work with internal information technology staff or external vendors on escalated technical issues.
- Lead preparedness and response for elopement prevention and rapid response, fire safety and evacuation procedures, severe weather and hurricanes, active shooter or violent incidents, and trespass and unauthorized access.
- Conduct drills, post-incident reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives.
