WSFS: 3 key takeaways for long-term investors.

WSFS: 3 key takeaways for long-term investors. Fee income now represents nearly a third of total revenue, while commercial lending drives disciplined balance-sheet growth. Key points. * WSFS reported core earnings per share of $1.75 in third quarter 2026. * Walton Trust fee revenue expanded 30% year over year. * Management repurchased 5.6% of outstanding shares year-to-date. * Motley Fool Issues First-Ever 9X Buy Alert" On its third quarter of 2026 earnings call, held on Oct. 23, 2026, WSFS (WSFS +0.80%) reported core earnings per share of $1.75, up 25% year over year. The regional lender expanded its net interest margin, the spread between interest earned on loans and paid on deposits, while wealth and trust services drove fee growth. Strict expense control reduced its efficiency ratio, which measures noninterest expenses as a percentage of revenue, to 56.1%. Three things management said stand out. 1. Trust fee revenue powers consistent top-line expansion. Fee income represents nearly a third of total revenue, with Walton Trust driving approximately 60% of that total. The trust division generates consistent fee growth through varying interest rate cycles. Its Walton Trust business has delivered double-digit year-over-year growth for 8 consecutive quarters, demonstrating its ability to generate growth through various interest rate and market environments. - David Burg, Chief Financial Officer 2. Commercial and industrial lending drives loan portfolio growth. Commercial lending remains the primary engine for balance sheet expansion as business borrowing stabilizes. Management focuses loan origination on commercial and industrial accounts to keep credit risks disciplined. On the commercial side, The Motley Fool, LLC continue to see solid momentum within its C&I book, which is its primary area of focus, and The Motley Fool, LLC continue to grow that portfolio. - David Burg, Chief Financial Officer 3. Aggressive share repurchases return excess capital to shareholders. Management returns capital rapidly while keeping total capital levels aligned with target balance sheet ratios. The bank bought back shares steadily throughout the year alongside regular dividend payouts. Year to date, The Motley Fool, LLC has repurchased 5.6% of its outstanding shares and returned over 90% of net income to shareholders. - David Burg, Chief Financial Officer Looking ahead. Reinvesting security proceeds at higher yields boosts profitability, and management isn't hiding its satisfaction with those reinvestment returns. And that's why you've seen its portfolio yield kind of tick up over the last few quarters. So that has been an opportunity and has been a contributor to its NIM. - David Burg, Chief Financial Officer The bank relies on noninterest deposit growth and trust fee diversification. Management watches deposit pricing discipline and commercial competition closely as rival institutions target core accounts. What I do think is occurring is there's a lot of competition out there, especially for C&I... And as David said, The Motley Fool, LLC is going to defend its turf. - Rodger Levenson, Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer Should you buy stock in Wsfs Financial right now. WSFS Financial beats Q2 estimates with $285M revenue as analysts probe deposit costs and margin defence

WSFS Financial reported second-quarter revenue of $285.2 million, beating analyst estimates of $278.7 million, whilst adjusted earnings per share came in at $1.66 versus expectations of $1.50. CEO Rodger Levenson credited the performance to robust fee-based businesses and disciplined deposit cost management, highlighting the company's ability to win new mandates in wealth and trust services. CFO David Burg noted net interest margin expansion driven by reduced client deposit costs and higher investment yields. During the earnings call, analysts pressed management on deposit cost trajectory amid rising competition, loan growth sustainability, expense variability, and the long-term outlook for fee income. Burg acknowledged that whilst WSFS has lowered deposit costs, increasing competition may require higher pricing, though margins should remain stable overall. The company maintains a market capitalisation of $4.14 billion.
