Requirements
  • A PhD, MD, or MD/PhD in cancer biology, immuno-oncology, or another discipline relevant to therapeutic discovery and development.
  • At least 12 years of relevant experience in biotech, pharma, academia, or a related scientific environment.
  • Experience identifying, evaluating, or advancing therapeutic targets and preclinical programs in oncology.

Responsibilities
  • Lead complex, cross-functional programs from concept and early discovery through preclinical development, with accountability for scientific strategy, execution quality, team effectiveness, risk management, and stage-gate readiness.
  • Develop and maintain integrated program strategies and plans covering scientific objectives, timelines, dependencies, critical path activities, and resourcing.
  • Set scientific program direction and identify and advance therapeutic opportunities and target proposals using disease biology, platform capabilities, internal and external evidence, translational and clinical rationale, and competitive intelligence.
  • Facilitate cross-functional discussions, resolve divergent perspectives, make recommendations, own key scientific decisions within the project team structure, and drive timely go/no-go recommendations.
  • Drive execution across wet-lab, computational, platform, translational, and preclinical workstreams while ensuring scientific rigor, reproducibility, documentation, and high-quality data packages.
  • Develop resource plans and budget assumptions, anticipate strategic inflection points, and resolve risks, gaps, and cross-functional dependencies.
  • Build operating mechanisms for program planning, governance preparation, risk tracking, decision-making, and cross-functional accountability.
  • Manage, coach, and develop direct reports through objectives, feedback, performance management, compensation recommendations, and career development.
  • Set clear expectations and foster a high-performing team culture grounded in scientific rigor, accountability, transparency, urgency, collaboration, and constructive challenge.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with protein therapeutics and related modalities, including multispecific antibodies, immune engagers, antibody-drug conjugates, peptides, or other conjugate-based approaches.
  • Familiarity with computational protein design, machine learning-enabled discovery, or platform-scale biological systems.
  • Familiarity with investigational new drug-enabling studies and early clinical development for oncology therapeutics.
  • Experience working effectively with consultants, contract research organizations, and other external partners.

Generate Biomedicines has reported first quarter 2026 financial results, with cash, cash equivalents and marketable securities totalling $516.6 million as of 31 March 2026, up from $221.5 million at year-end 2025, following $369.3 million in net proceeds from its IPO completed in March. The clinical-stage biotech is advancing multiple programmes. Phase 3 trials for GB-0895, an anti-TSLP treatment for severe asthma, continue alongside a Phase 1b trial in COPD. Its GB-4362 MMAE neutraliser has activated clinical trial sites, with first patient dosing expected mid-2026, whilst GB-5267, a MUC16 CAR T therapy developed with Roswell Park, is expected to begin dosing in the second half of 2026. Net loss for the quarter was $61.7 million, compared with $44.3 million in the same period last year.
