Requirements
  • Must hold an active electrical trade license.
  • Ideally have 1–3+ years of experience in data center electrical work.
  • Have a valid electrical license from Iowa or a reciprocal jurisdiction.
  • Have OSHA 10 certification or the ability to obtain it.
  • Have a valid driver’s license or identification.
  • Have a basic understanding of construction tools and jobsite safety.
  • Be willing to learn commercial and data center electrical systems.
  • Be able to work extended hours, nights, or weekends as project demand requires.
  • Be able to perform frequent standing, walking, bending, climbing, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Perform tasks only within apprenticeship scope and supervision requirements.
Responsibilities
  • Assist journeymen and foremen with installing conduit systems, including EMT, RMC, and IMC.
  • Assist with installing cable tray and supports.
  • Assist with installing electrical equipment, panels, and devices.
  • Pull wire and assist with terminations under supervision.
  • Install grounding and bonding components as directed.
  • Perform material staging, layout support, and jobsite organization.
  • Support work in electrical rooms, data halls, and support spaces.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in sensitive data center areas.
  • Follow strict access, housekeeping, and work sequencing requirements.
  • Follow OSHA, National Electrical Code, NFPA 70E, and company safety policies.
  • Participate in daily job hazard analyses, toolbox talks, and safety meetings.
  • Use required personal protective equipment and report hazards or unsafe conditions immediately.
  • Participate in apprenticeship training and schooling through IEC or an equivalent program.
  • Develop technical skills, tool knowledge, and code awareness.
  • Progress toward journeyman licensure in accordance with program standards.
  • Use hand tools, basic power tools, conduit-bending and installation equipment, lifts, ladders, scaffolding, and required arc-flash gear.
  • Work in active commercial construction and data center environments, indoors and outdoors depending on project phase.
