Requirements
  • 8+ years of experience in data architecture, modeling, and solution design within the P&C insurance domain.
  • Deep understanding of policy, product, coverage, rating, and forms data structures.
  • Proven expertise in canonical data models, handling complex hierarchies, and implementing effective dating/versioning.
  • Experience working with or integrating major policy administration platforms (FAST, Guidewire, Duck Creek, etc.).
  • Strong knowledge of SQL Server and PostgreSQL (schema design, indexing, performance tuning).
  • Hands-on experience with .NET (C#, ASP.NET) for enterprise-grade services.
  • Experience with React for building dynamic UI components.
  • Expertise in REST API design, including security, versioning, and scalability.
  • Practical experience with AWS cloud services for deployment and integration.
Responsibilities
  • Data Architecture & Strategy Design, evolve and maintain a canonical insurance data model (CIDM) that supports ISO ERC and proprietary carrier products, and custom extensions.
  • Define and enforce standards for data capture, persistence, normalization, and extensibility, ensuring alignment with the FAST P&C Platform’s architecture.
  • Architect and govern effective dating, versioning, and historical tracking strategies across coverages, forms, schedules, exposures, and hierarchies.
  • Model complex insurance relationships including 1-1, 1-many, many-many, cross-product linkages, and multi-level policy structures.
  • Establish and communicate best practices for product-agnostic and highly extensible model design.
  • End-to-end Technical Architecture: Define end-to-end technical architecture for integration with downstream systems (rating, analytics, reporting).
  • Design and optimize relational schemas in SQL Server and PostgreSQL, including indexing strategies, partitioning approaches, stored procedures, and performance tuning.
  • Partner with developers to build and refine .NET-based services that implement business logic, data access patterns, and platform APIs.
  • Define and maintain REST API contracts for consistent, secure, and scalable data interchange.
  • Work with UI teams to align React components and workflows with underlying data structures.
  • Contribute to end-to-end solution architecture including AWS cloud deployments, microservices, and integrations.
  • Governance, Metadata, and Standards: Establish and maintain data governance frameworks including data contracts, naming standards, lineage tracking, and data quality controls.
  • Implement standards for extensibility (typed extension tables, JSON attributes) and enforce data quality rules.
  • Drive compliance with ISO updates and carrier-specific filings through version-controlled mapping rules.
  • Oversee management of product registries, mapping rules, configuration metadata, and product lineage.
  • Platform, Implementation Partnership, and Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner with business analysts, product managers, and insurance SMEs to translate business requirements into robust data structures.
  • Serve as the data architecture authority for the FAST P&C Platform team.
  • Represent data architecture in customer implementations, conduct workshops, and validate technical assumptions.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex data issues during onboarding, testing, and internal and external deployments.
  • Collaborate with Verisk product teams, enterprise architects, and data engineers to ensure seamless integration and operationalization of the data model.
  • Communicate technical risks, trade-offs, and opportunities to leadership in clear business terms.

Verisk Analytics CEO sells $550K in shares under pre-arranged trading plan

Verisk Analytics CEO Lee Shavel sold 2,500 shares of common stock for $550,000 on 29 July 2026, according to an SEC filing. The shares were sold at a weighted average price of $220.00. The transaction was executed under a pre-arranged Rule 10b5-1 trading plan adopted by Shavel in December 2025. Following the sale, Shavel retains a direct position of 98,490 shares in the company. Verisk CIO Nick Daffan steps down after 20 years as CTO takes interim role

Verisk Analytics announced that Executive Vice President and Chief Information Officer Nick Daffan has stepped down after approximately two decades with the company. Verisk Q2 earnings beat estimates at $1.98 per share on insurance growth

Verisk reported second-quarter 2026 diluted adjusted earnings of $1.98 per share, beating estimates of $1.94 by 2.1%. Revenues reached $806.3 million, topping consensus of $802.4 million and rising 4.3% year over year. Underwriting revenues increased 3.5% to $569 million, driven by annual price increases and expanded catastrophe solutions. Claims revenues rose 6.3% to $237 million, led by anti-fraud analytics and restoration solutions. Adjusted EBITDA grew 4.2% to $463.6 million, with the margin at 57.5%. However, GAAP net income fell 9.8% to $228.6 million due to higher tax rates and increased interest expenses. Free cash flow surged 57.9% to $297.9 million.

US P&C insurers achieve 92.4 combined ratio as premium growth slows to 2.9%

US property and casualty insurers posted a net underwriting gain of $15.8 billion in Q1 2026, rebounding from an $864 million loss in Q1 2025, according to Verisk and the American Property Casualty Insurance Association. The industry's combined ratio improved to 92.4%, down from 99.2% the previous year. Premium growth slowed sharply to 2.9% in Q1 2026, down from 6.8% in Q1 2025 and 9.6% in Q1 2024. Some carriers have begun returning premiums through policyholder dividends, with $6.2 billion distributed. When adjusted for inflation and dividends, written premiums have effectively declined in 2026. Net income after taxes rose to $40.9 billion from $19.4 billion in Q1 2025. Policyholders' surplus increased to $1.24 trillion from $1.09 trillion year-over-year.
