Requirements
  • 7+ years of relevant experience, with experience in both public and private accounting. A CPA is required, and the ideal candidate will have worked as a Controller in a related industry (credit, real estate, or private equity funds; other asset management; public equities)
  • Experience at a growth-stage business and in building, managing, and scaling accounting functions
  • Knowledge and experience with state and federal taxation for pass-through entities and corporations
  • Proficiency with using Excel to manipulate and analyze financial statements and related data
  • Strong critical thinking skills, including the ability to identify and summarize key points in any analysis
  • Developed prioritization skills and ability to balance both short-term and long-term objectives while maintaining strong attention to detail
  • History of working cross-functionally and building positive relationships with people and teams across a diverse organization, maintaining effective cross-functional communication
  • An ownership approach to your work with a track record of delivering business results through operational excellence in a fast-paced environment
  • Curiosity and desire to implement new ideas and processes to drive efficiencies and scalability, with experience putting this into practice
  • Willingness and ability to coach, mentor, and develop team members and help them realize their full potential
  • Experience with Netsuite and other accounting software
Responsibilities
  • Lead Hometap's accounting team and processes; manage and grow a four-person team, with a focus on fostering employee engagement and professional development
  • Own the timely completion of the month-end close for Opco, identifying and implementing process improvements to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of the monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting process
  • Provide quality assurance on quarterly financial reporting for Funds
  • Lead the preparation and presentation of financial analysis and performance reports, along with MD&A commentary, for internal and external stakeholders
  • Oversee payroll processes for Hometap
  • Lead annual audit process for Opco and Funds, with external auditors, ensuring timely and accurate completion
  • Oversee tax filings and quarterly estimated payments for Opco and Funds, in conjunction with internal stakeholder and external tax advisors and fund accountants
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations
  • Research and author accounting policies and procedure documentation for existing business and research accounting implications for new product lines across Opco and Funds
  • Maintain and enhance internal systems, processes, and internal controls. Anticipate potential challenges and constantly seek opportunities to improve
  • Support potential corporate transactions including capital raises or M&A integrations (systems and financial)
  • Professionally interact, and partner, with operational stakeholders/counterparts at our equity and debt investors
