Requirements
  • The role requires 0-2 years of experience.
  • A high school diploma or GED is required.
  • Successful completion of Patient Care Technician training and an active Patient Care Technician certification are required.
  • AHA Basic Life Support certification is required.
  • Successful completion of one of the following certifications is required: CPT, CPCT-A, or ACMA.
  • The employee must work part-time night shifts from 7:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m., with weekend and holiday rotation.
  • The employee must effectively communicate with patients, visitors, coworkers, the healthcare team, and patients’ families or significant others.
  • The employee must identify and communicate changes in patient status and respond appropriately.
  • The employee must maintain professional ethics and adhere to standard precautions, safety protocols, and quality standards.
Responsibilities
  • Support patients’ activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, feeding, hygiene, mobility, and transport.
  • Perform technical duties as directed by a Registered Nurse, including phlebotomy, vital signs, point-of-care testing, electrocardiograms, and Foley catheter care, and document the work appropriately.
  • Identify and communicate changes in patient status to the Registered Nurse and maintain safe patient practices.
  • Reinforce education for patients and families regarding care needs and safety.
  • Participate in patient satisfaction initiatives and performance improvement activities.
  • Assist in orienting new hires.
  • Complete annual hospital and unit-specific competencies by the required due date.
