  • Ability to work schedules based on operational needs, including shift rotation, standby, and on-call assignments.
Responsibilities
  • Prepare meals for residents, family members, guests, and staff according to designated menus and nutrition standards.
  • Interact with residents to determine and enhance satisfaction with the meal program.
  • Ensure attractive food presentation on each plate.
  • Prepare meals according to the daily menu plan and directions from the Kitchen Manager.
  • Serve meals and beverages on time according to scheduled mealtimes.
  • Adjust or adapt recipes for specific dietary needs when possible.
  • Monitor and adhere to portion-control standards.
  • Maintain confidentiality of resident information.
  • Prepare meals in accordance with sanitary regulations and community policies and procedures.
  • Follow proper food handling, labeling, and storage protocols.
  • Document meal intakes and fluid intakes.
  • Communicate resident food dislikes and likes to the Kitchen Manager.
  • Help maintain appropriate noise levels during mealtimes.
  • Wash, dry, and put away dishes.
  • Restock low or out-of-stock items.
  • Deliver sick meals to residents in the dining area or bedrooms.
  • Clean dining room floors and tables after each meal.
  • Clean the kitchen before leaving the shift.
  • Stock resident refrigerators and storage bins daily.
  • Attend required in-service training sessions.
  • Report meal-intake refusals and zero-percentage meal intakes to the administrator.
  • Communicate staff or resident issues to the Kitchen Manager and administrator.
  • Assist with compliance with state and local regulations.
  • Assist the dietician and Kitchen Manager in developing menu items and recipes and ordering items as needed.
  • Interact appropriately with residents, family members, and guests.
  • Assist other departments with duties assigned by the Kitchen Manager or administrator.
  • Practice safe working procedures around residents, staff, guests, equipment, chemicals, tools, and utensils.
  • Contribute to resident satisfaction by meeting or exceeding customer expectations.
  • Maintain efficient and appropriate communication with residents, family members, and guests.
  • Contribute to marketing efforts through appropriate interaction with prospective residents and guests.
