NVIDIA designs and manufactures graphics processing units (GPUs) and computing platforms used for gaming, data centers, and artificial intelligence. These products work by using parallel processing to handle complex mathematical calculations much faster than standard computer processors, supported by a software ecosystem that allows developers to build and run AI models. Unlike competitors that may focus solely on hardware, NVIDIA integrates its chips with specialized software and cloud services to create a complete environment for high-performance tasks. The company’s goal is to provide the underlying technology necessary to power advanced computing, from realistic video game graphics to autonomous vehicles and large-scale data analysis.

Nvidia to invest up to $3B in energy infrastructure firm Lancium

Nvidia is investing up to $3 billion in energy infrastructure company Lancium, the Information reported. The chipmaker agreed to invest $2 billion for approximately a 20% stake, with commitments for another $1 billion contingent on future milestones, according to people familiar with the matter. The investment is strictly an equity stake and does not include credit guarantees for data centre construction and leases. The agreement values Lancium and its portfolio at $10 billion, including debt and Nvidia's investment.

US probes Nvidia chip access via overseas data centres as Chinese AI firms exploit loophole

The US Commerce Department is investigating how Chinese AI companies access Nvidia's advanced processors through overseas data centres, Bloomberg reported. The review examines whether Chinese developers legally rent Nvidia-powered computing capacity located outside China, potentially closing a major loophole in Washington's chip restrictions. Nvidia has already tightened controls, cutting its list of authorised Asian AI-chip buyers by more than half and increasing inspections in Singapore, Malaysia and Japan, according to the Financial Times. The scrutiny comes as Nvidia's core business accelerates. Fiscal first-quarter revenue surged 85% to $81.6 billion, whilst data centre revenue jumped 92% to $75.2 billion. The company expects second-quarter revenue of roughly $91 billion, assuming no data centre compute revenue from China. Shares closed Thursday up about 17% in 2025.

Indosat and Nvidia launch AI venture targeting 1GW capacity in Indonesia

Indosat has partnered with Nvidia to launch Zankore, an AI infrastructure venture targeting 200 megawatts of AI capacity by the first half of 2027 and 1 gigawatt of Nvidia DSX AI Factory capacity over time. Zankore will operate as a separately governed platform with its own chief executive officer and board. Nvidia will provide DSX architecture, AI software and access to next-generation graphics processing units, whilst Nokia will supply AI-native networking. Ooredoo Group will serve as lead investor and platform sponsor. Ooredoo is also Indosat's controlling shareholder through Ooredoo Hutchison Asia. The planned capacity would be substantial for Indonesia, where data centre information technology load capacity is estimated at 1.44 gigawatts in 2025. The rollout aligns with Indonesian policy requiring private electronic system operators to register locally.

Nvidia expands AI agent toolkit for chip design as data center revenue hits $75.2B

Nvidia expanded its Agent Toolkit on 26 July, adding PhysicsNeMo and CUDA-X libraries that enable AI agents to handle engineering simulations, physics solvers, and quantum chemistry tasks autonomously. The company is extending its hardware dominance into design software, aiming to lock in customers through workflow integration. Siemens reports 10x faster chip library characterisation using the toolkit, whilst Samsung applies it to lithography and thermal analysis on models with up to 10 billion cells. Nvidia's fiscal first quarter 2027 revenue reached $81.6 billion, with data centre sales accounting for $75.2 billion. Despite strong results, Nvidia shares rose only 17% year-to-date as of 6 August 2026, trailing the S&P 500. Data centre sales comprise 92% of revenue, concentrated amongst hyperscaler customers. Hedge fund ownership increased from 264 to 275 in recent 13F filings.

HPE and Nvidia expand AI infrastructure partnership to take on Super Micro and Dell

Hewlett Packard Enterprise and NVIDIA have expanded their partnership to deliver integrated AI infrastructure combining hardware, software, and cloud management. The collaboration centres on HPE AI Factory with NVIDIA, a turnkey solution merging HPE's compute, storage, and networking with NVIDIA's GPUs, CPUs, and AI Enterprise software. The companies jointly developed HPE Private Cloud AI for secure deployment of generative and agentic AI applications in on-premises or hybrid environments. HPE is launching AI-optimised servers, including the ProLiant Compute DL394 Gen12 powered by NVIDIA's Vera CPU. HPE faces competition from Super Micro Computer and Dell Technologies, which also partner with NVIDIA. Super Micro Computer's modular Building Block architecture and over 3,200 research and development engineers enable rapid product customisation and faster time-to-market for AI deployments.
