Arista vs CrowdStrike: $10.5B revenue and 38% margin face off against faster-valued cybersecurity growth

Arista Networks and CrowdStrike offer different ways to bet on enterprise infrastructure, one in networking hardware and the other in cybersecurity software. A Motley Fool analyst favours CrowdStrike for long-term growth. Arista's trailing 12-month revenue reached $10.5 billion, up about 33%, with net income of $4 billion and free cash flow near $5.1 billion. CrowdStrike trades at a forward price-to-earnings ratio of 182.0x, against 44.5x for Arista. Its price-to-sales ratio is 43.3x, against 21.9x. CrowdStrike expects annualised revenue to nearly double to $10 billion by 2030. Arista faces growing competition from Nvidia.

Arista vs Datadog: why Arista's $9B revenue and 39% margin win out in 2026

Arista Networks looks the better buy than Datadog in 2026, according to a comparison of the two cloud infrastructure companies. Arista, which sells switches and software for cloud data centres, posted fiscal 2025 revenue of nearly $9.0 billion, up about 28.6%. Net income was close to $3.5 billion, a net margin of roughly 39%, and free cash flow was about $4.3 billion. Datadog, a software platform that monitors cloud systems, had revenue of nearly $3.4 billion, up about 27.7%. Net income was about $107.7 million, a margin of 3.1%. Arista trades at a forward price-to-earnings ratio of 44.5x against Datadog's 102.7x. Their price-to-sales ratios are close, at 21.9x and 23.6x. Arista's risks include reliance on a few large customers and on Broadcom for silicon. Both firms report third-quarter results in early November.

Arista Networks stock falls 18% from record despite no miss; model sees ~$463 target by 2030

Arista Networks shares fell 18.34% in five sessions, from a record close of $216.74 on October 9, 2026, to $176.98 on October 16. The company reported no miss and cut no guidance. Reuters tied the selling to doubts that debt-funded AI infrastructure firms can earn enough to cover their borrowing. Arista held $13,343.3 million in cash and marketable securities and no debt as of June 30, 2026. Its exposure runs through customers, such as neocloud providers, rather than its balance sheet. The stock rebounded 3.37% to $182.95 on October 19. Its forward price-to-earnings ratio dropped to 38.05x from 43.83x on September 30. The next test is November 3, when Arista reports. The Street expects about $3.6 billion in fourth-quarter revenue.

Arista earnings on November 3: Q4 guidance above $3.6B could send the stock soaring

Arista Networks will report third-quarter earnings on November 3, and investors will watch its fourth-quarter outlook most closely. Wall Street expects fourth-quarter revenue of $3.6 billion and earnings of $1.15 per share. The AI networking company makes Ethernet switches that move data between processors in large AI data centres. Analysts expect third-quarter revenue of $3.33 billion and earnings of $1.08 per share, in line with Arista's own forecast of about $3.3 billion. In the second quarter, revenue rose 37.7% from a year earlier to $3.03 billion. Earnings per share were $0.95, up from $0.70. Nvidia and Cisco Systems also compete in AI networking, and Arista relies heavily on spending by major cloud companies.

Arista's 45.4% operating margin dwarfs Vertiv's 19.5%, but Vertiv trades at a lower cash-flow multiple

Arista Networks and Vertiv Holdings both gain as AI data centres come online, but Arista keeps far more of each sales dollar as profit. Arista supplies data-centre networking; Vertiv supplies power and cooling. Arista's second-quarter revenue was $3.036 billion, up 37.7%, with a 45.4% GAAP operating margin. Vertiv reported $3.274 billion in sales, up 24% (18% organic), with a 19.5% GAAP operating margin. A five-point margin drop at constant revenue would cut Arista's operating profit 11.0% and Vertiv's 25.6%. Arista's cushion costs more. Trailing cash-flow multiples were about 45 for Arista and 28 for Vertiv. Vertiv's adjusted free cash flow reached $925 million, helped by favourable working-capital timing.
