About the job

Requirements
  • Hold a bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical or electronics engineering specialized in RF circuit design.
  • Have 8–12 years of experience in RF hardware development, preferably in a safety-regulated industry such as medical devices, gas appliances, or aviation equipment.
  • Have a solid understanding of RF concepts including impedance matching, impedance transformation, distributed systems, passive RLC and resonant circuits, noise, linearity, bandwidth, and stability from tens of kHz to a few MHz.
  • Be familiar with lab instruments including network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, signal generators, RF probe stations, and noise figure analyzers.
  • Have strong lab skills in data collection and analysis, lab debugging and tuning, and product troubleshooting.
  • Be familiar with component blocks inside RF transceiver lines, including coils, tuning and matching circuits, low-noise amplifiers, upconverters and downconverters, baseband filters, driver and power amplifiers, linear RF switches, attenuators, low-noise regulators, transimpedance amplifiers, and biasing circuits.
  • Have a strong desire and commitment to take a product from concept to volume production.
  • Investigate customer-reported field complaints on DAS/receiver hardware, perform log-based root-cause analysis and fault isolation, and prepare Defect Review Board-ready write-ups.
  • Have hardware design and documentation experience with the RXE4 receiver module and TFINT master board (PFEI rack: TFINT, QDD, TRSW).
  • Contribute to redesigning a TFINT-integrated receiver subsystem through architecture documentation, planning, and design-decision analysis, supported by lab measurement and simulation.
  • Work on the TRSW transmit/receive switch board.
  • Document a buffer/level-shifter reliability issue affecting TRSW and QDD boards.
  • Qualify alternative components across four PFEI boards, defining and executing test plans.
  • Investigate and disposition supplier change requests for material obsolescence and a contract manufacturer's site relocation, and resolve traceability and labeling gaps.
  • Maintain test documentation for a coil-interface production tester and support fixes on a supplier-built test system.
  • Use AWR, LTspice, scikit-rf, Python, MATLAB, Windchill, and ClearQuest.
Responsibilities
  • Design and develop RF hardware modules for the RF Coils subsystem of MR products, taking products from concept through design into production in collaboration with electronic hardware, mechanical, systems, manufacturing, and service engineers.
  • Design models, schematics, and layouts; realize, integrate, and verify analog and RF components of MRI systems.
  • Contribute to electronic design and development of analog circuits, including RF circuits, PCB schematics, layout plans, wiring drawings, and assembly.
  • Assemble, configure, repair, and connect electronic systems and devices.
  • Debug and characterize complex electronic circuits using oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and network analyzers.
  • Present results and root-cause analyses to a broader audience and drive performance improvements for the RF front end.
  • Support technical aspects of regulatory compliance.
  • Participate in design verification and validation.
  • Participate in cost-saving opportunities, design maintenance, and resolution of end-of-life issues.
  • Document subsystem component and module development, including requirements, specifications, design plans, reviews, test procedures, and test reports.
  • Coordinate, support, and execute product tests to provide traceable product verification.
  • Investigate customer-reported field complaints on DAS/receiver hardware, including a multi-site RF-spurious-signal investigation and receiver-fault complaints on installed systems.
  • Support the redesign of a TFINT-integrated receiver subsystem with architecture documentation, planning, design-decision analysis, lab measurement, and simulation.
  • Maintain test documentation for a coil-interface production tester and support a fix to a supplier-built test system.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience in a safety-regulated industry such as medical devices, gas appliances, or aviation equipment.
