Requirements
  • U.S. citizenship is required for consideration, along with meeting Federal Contractor employee requirements.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field, with an ABET-accredited degree preferred.
  • CAD experience is required; SolidWorks experience is preferred.
  • Five to eight years of Mechanical Engineering experience is specified for Level III.
  • Ability to stand and sit for extended periods.
  • Manual dexterity to operate office equipment.
  • Ability to occasionally lift or move up to 20 pounds.
  • Ability to perform occasional climbing or hands-on testing activities.
  • Ability to work safely around energized systems when required.
  • Ability to work in office, shop, and vehicle environments as needed.
  • Ability to travel as needed on occasion.
Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and support mechanical systems for Nomad vehicles and platforms.
  • Ensure designs comply with applicable codes, safety standards, and customer requirements.
  • Support manufacturing by answering technical questions, resolving build issues, and improving design clarity.
  • Participate in design reviews, testing, validation, and root cause analysis.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Engineering disciplines, Production, Quality, and Project Management teams.
  • Apply continuous improvement principles to improve product quality, reliability, and manufacturability.
  • Create CAD documentation for projects, including top-level assemblies, subassemblies, and parts.
  • Use finite element analysis to analyze designs, determine stress, create tests to verify results, document analysis, and change designs as needed to optimize them.
  • Create, implement, supervise, and document tests verifying that designs meet customer requirements.
  • Complete analyses, documentation, and drawings required for Production within established time frames agreed upon by the Operations Team.
  • Communicate with vendors and clients to troubleshoot designs, obtain information on new designs, and obtain component specifications, drawings, and models.
  • Track and record work hours for each specific project daily.
  • Lead mechanical design for complete systems or major subsystems.
  • Own system-level trade studies covering cost, performance, safety, and reliability.
  • Troubleshoot complex mechanical issues and lead root cause analysis during production or field failures.
  • Review and approve other engineers' designs.
  • Optimize designs for manufacturability, serviceability, and cost.
  • Mentor Mechanical Engineer I–II team members on technical and process topics.
  • Interface directly with customers, suppliers, or regulatory bodies as needed.
  • Demonstrate strong technical judgment and cross-functional leadership.
  • Maintain system-level ownership.
