Requirements
  • Knowledge of crisis intervention techniques.
  • Ability to maintain quality, safety, and infection control standards and follow safety procedures.

  • CPR and First Aid certification, maintained as current.
  • Crisis Prevention and Intervention certification, obtained within 90 days of employment.
  • Successful completion of a TB test or submission of test results from the previous 12 months, and urine analysis.
  • A level one Fingerprint Clearance Card, or submission of an application within 20 days of employment.
  • At least one year of sobriety before applying if the candidate is in recovery.
  • A clean 36-month vehicle record check for drivers.
  • At least 21 years of age.
  • A high school diploma or GED with one year of behavioral health experience, an associate degree in a related or behavioral health field, or an equivalent combination of directly related education and experience.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally.
  • Ability to perform duties with minimal supervision from Behavioral Health Technicians.
  • Experience working with multicultural and low-socioeconomic individuals.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Ability to read and interpret written information, write clearly and informatively, and edit work for spelling and grammar.
  • Ability to speak clearly and persuasively, listen and obtain clarification, respond to questions, and participate in meetings.
Responsibilities
  • Provide adult client supervision in a residential environment under direct supervision.
  • Coordinate plans and activities according to each client's treatment recovery plan, including case notes and documentation.
  • Observe client behavior daily, intervene effectively in crisis situations, and provide rehabilitative services.
  • Assist in maintaining a safe and secure environment that supports treatment and educational effectiveness.
  • Assist with programmatic development using an integrative behavioral and physical health model.
  • Provide input, treatment, and coordination for physical health, wellness, and prevention as a member of the on-site clinical team.
  • Provide direct care and supportive services in collaboration with mental health professionals.
  • Assist physicians, nurses, therapists, and behavioral health technicians by teaching and reinforcing daily skills related to treatment plans and recovery goals.
  • Provide care that promotes client safety, comfort, and a therapeutic environment.
  • Assist clients with activities of daily living, behavioral problems, and crisis intervention.
  • Work with a multidisciplinary team to lead program milieu activities.
  • Chart client observations according to prescribed procedures and standards.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of client records.
  • Transport clients to appointments, clinics, laboratories, treatments, court, and medical appointments as authorized.
  • Attend and participate in group sessions, in-service education, staff meetings, workshops, and continuing education.
  • Follow institutional policies and procedures, quality assurance programs, safety standards, environmental standards, and infection control standards.
  • Maintain professional growth through educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings, and workshops.
  • Provide liaison support to patients, patients' families, external facilities, and agencies when needed.
  • Monitor activities and groups and process notes in the electronic health record.
  • Maintain proficiency in basic electronic health record entries, including documentation for group classes and billable and non-billable case management entries.
  • Conduct hourly accountability and security walks.
  • Conduct daily house meetings when assigned.
  • Learn urine analysis procedures and conduct patient urine analyses as appropriate.
  • Assist with client intakes and discharges.
  • Foster a safe and therapeutic community environment.
  • Communicate with medical associates, nursing personnel, and other department personnel.
