Requirements
  • Graduate from an American Registry of Radiologic Technologists-recognized education program, or be American Registry of Radiologic Technologists registered or registry eligible.
  • Obtain an advanced MRI registry within one year of hire.
  • Have computer usage experience.
  • Maintain current cardiopulmonary resuscitation certification.
  • Be able to perform frequent hand and finger use, sitting, standing, walking, patient handling, and lifting duties, including moving patients up to 400 pounds with assistance and objects up to 30 pounds.
  • Have no metal implants or pacemaker that would contraindicate working around the MRI magnet.
Responsibilities
  • Perform MRI examinations on patients according to department procedures and under the direction of the Section Chief and Manager.
  • Ensure technical continuity of care for patients receiving MRI studies.
  • Communicate clinical observations made during MRI examinations to radiologists and present the patient's documented clinical history.
  • Perform venipuncture for patients requiring contrast administration during MRI studies.
  • Use the appropriate Radiology Information System and Hospital Information System modules.
  • Gather and record data and serve as a committee member for the Radiology Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement program.
  • Follow downtime procedures to ensure appropriate information is available for continuity of patient care.
  • Participate in in-service and continuing education programs for professional development.
  • Provide patients with educational information about their examinations.
  • Ensure the quality of digital images sent to the Picture Archiving and Communication System, verify the correct patient is selected from the worklist, and confirm medical-record accuracy before transmission.
  • Review the patient safety checklist before each study.

  • Two years of experience as a staff technologist.
  • One year of experience as an MRI technologist.
