Requirements
  • A Doctor of Medicine degree is required.
  • A current Drug Enforcement Administration certificate and Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security certificate of registration are required.
  • One year of experience in pediatrics is preferred.
  • The physician must practice within the scope of Tennessee regulations and apply professional medical principles, procedures, and techniques.
  • The physician must demonstrate active listening, critical thinking, and a professional and caring persona for patients and families.
  • The physician must have effective verbal and written communication skills.
Responsibilities
  • Manage the medical aspects of patient care through written medical protocols.
  • Provide medical patient care by interviewing, examining, and treating clinical patients to meet their medical needs.
  • Diagnose and treat acute, chronic, and long-term healthcare issues.
  • Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests to identify and assess patients' clinical problems and healthcare needs.
  • Record physical findings and formulate plans and prognoses based on patients' conditions.
  • Prescribe or recommend drugs and other treatments, including physical therapy, inhalation therapy, and related therapeutic procedures.
  • Oversee assigned mid-level medical staff and nursing clinical staff, and order studies, tests, and ancillary services.
  • Maintain legible, accurate, and confidential medical records, including medical evaluations, diagnoses, procedures, treatments, outcomes, education, referrals, and consultations in accordance with regulatory standards.
  • Consult with the Medical Director and other staff professionals regarding patient care, assessment, and education issues.
  • Assist in resolving complaints, requests, and inquiries from patients and refer patients to specialized health resources when appropriate.
  • Order appropriate diagnostic screening tests according to protocol.
  • Provide developmentally appropriate care and address disease prevention and health promotion issues while administering quality patient care.
  • Educate patients and families about preventive care, immunizations, medical issues, and prescribed treatments and medications.
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient information in accordance with federal guidelines and regulations.
  • Work independently and collaboratively with medical staff members through consultation, collaboration, and referral.
  • Share knowledge and skills with colleagues to enhance professional development.
  • Analyze knowledge from conferences, workshops, professional literature, and hands-on training and incorporate it into clinical practice.
  • Accept other assignments as requested.
  • Use hospital resources and time appropriately and avoid misuse, abuse, or waste.
  • Optimize time efficiently and effectively and serve as a role model and resource for others.
  • Record applicable patient charges promptly, thoroughly, and accurately to support appropriate service billing.
