Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree and seven years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Well-developed managerial, decision-making, planning, organizational, problem-resolution, project management, and leadership skills, with demonstrated ability to manage people day to day and inspire commitment and performance.
  • Solid understanding of internal control concepts and implementation of internal control systems in a complex business environment.
  • Ability to anticipate business-environment changes and proactively manage change.
  • Ability to understand and address business situations quickly.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with ability to adapt communication style to individuals at all levels throughout the university.
  • Ability to generate a strategic vision, influence people to achieve it, and negotiate skillfully with internal and external constituents.
  • Demonstrated information technology skills, including extensive experience with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook.
Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership and strategic direction in developing and modifying the department's financial and administrative policies and procedures, and direct the business office staff and the department's daily financial activities.
  • Develop and maintain department-wide forecast models and short-term and long-term programmatic financial business plans.
  • Develop and disseminate comprehensive financial reports and facilitate financial and business planning to maximize revenues and minimize costs.
  • Identify and monitor external and internal factors influencing the organization's mission and goals, and plan the financial and non-financial resources required to achieve them.
  • Collaborate with the budget office and leadership to prepare and support the annual university Corporation Budget process.
  • Provide timely and accurate budget input and adjustments for all operating sources of funds, create budget narratives, and assist with the annual presentation to leadership.
  • Implement and maintain internal controls providing reasonable assurance of effective resource use, accurate financial information, compliance with contractual obligations and agreements, policies and procedures, and external regulatory requirements and reporting.
  • Identify, communicate, address, and escalate risks as appropriate to protect organizational and university assets, resources, information, and reputation.
  • Ensure staff understand and comply with relevant regulations and requirements within their scope of activity.
  • Advise and collaborate with campus partners on financial matters, planning, and reporting.
  • Oversee business office staff.
