Requirements
  • RCIS, RCES, CEPS, or RT(R)CI certification is required within the first two years of hire and must be maintained.
  • Current Basic Life Support certification is required from the American Heart Association or an American Red Cross equivalent.
  • A Bachelor's Degree or equivalent is required.
  • At least one year of work experience is required.
  • Graduation from an accredited Invasive Cardiovascular Technology program, or equivalent education and experience with the required certification, is required; alternatively, graduation from an accredited school of radiologic technology and one year of radiologic experience is required.
  • A copy of the academic degree or transcript is required.
  • The employee must be able to perform the listed physical, sensory, and environmental job functions, including standing, walking, lifting, carrying, force exertion, vision, hearing, and respirator qualification.
  • The employee must be able to deal effectively with stressful situations, work rotating shifts and overtime as required, work in a latex-safe environment, and maintain tactile and olfactory sensory functions.
Responsibilities
  • Perform scrub duties and related procedures for cardiac interventions, left heart catheterization, and right and left heart catheterization without assistance.
  • Perform scrub duties and related procedures for peripheral diagnostics or interventions with minimal assistance.
  • Scrub, gown, glove, and set up the back table with the necessary equipment.
  • Record cardiac interventions and catheterization hemodynamics accurately.
  • Monitor procedures and document inventory used and the order of events appropriately in the MacLab event log.
  • Maintain electrocardiogram setup and rhythm monitoring.
  • Maintain basic hemodynamic setup and waveform monitoring.
  • Assist fellow staff members in preparing the room for safe and effective patient care.
  • Perform required checks on all safety equipment.
  • Ensure adequate supplies are present to perform procedures.
  • Transport patients alone or accompanied by a fellow staff member.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with telemetry and arterial and venous sheath removal is preferred.
