Dr. John Gray joins Oakhurst primary care team.

Dr. John Gray joins Oakhurst primary care team. The Navy veteran is accepting new patients at Adventist Health's Victoria Lane office. Mountain residents looking for a primary care physician have another option close to home. John Gray, DO, has joined Adventist Health's primary care team in Oakhurst and is accepting new patients. Gray provides comprehensive primary care, treating and managing a variety of conditions with an emphasis on patient education and prevention, according to Adventist Health. His arrival brings a background in military and public health service to the local practice - a career in healthcare that began more than five decades ago. Gray first entered healthcare in 1973 as a U.S. Navy hospital corpsman during the Vietnam era. He later served as a naval flight surgeon during the Persian Gulf War. His experience also includes 32 years as a commissioned officer in the Indian Health Service, retiring from that service in 2014. According to Adventist Health, the principles he developed during his military career continue to guide his approach to patients: service, selflessness and treating each person with dignity and respect. For Oakhurst and surrounding mountain communities, the announcement offers a local opportunity for residents seeking to establish care with a physician. Gray's focus on education and prevention accompanies his work treating and managing patients' health conditions. Longtime Central Coast gastroenterologist joins Adventist Health.

Longtime Central Coast gastroenterologist joins Adventist Health. Dr. Jonathan Riegler will focus primarily on gastroenterology procedures. - Adventist Health has added longtime Central Coast gastroenterologist Dr. Jonathan Riegler to its gastroenterology team, according to a news release from the health system. Riegler will see patients at Adventist Health Gastroenterology, 959 Las Tablas Road, Suite B-3, in Templeton. Riegler joins gastroenterologist Dr. Robert Barclay and physician assistant Poonam Joshi as part of an integrated gastroenterology team. According to Adventist Health, Riegler will focus primarily on gastroenterology procedures rather than routine office visits. Depending on their individual needs, patients may first meet with Joshi or Barclay for evaluation and consultation. When clinically appropriate, patients may qualify through Adventist Health's direct access process to move directly to a screening procedure. Both Riegler and Barclay provide gastroenterology screening and diagnostic procedures, which the health system said will help expand procedural capacity and improve access for patients across the Central Coast. Riegler is a board-certified, fellowship-trained gastroenterologist with more than 35 years of experience caring for patients on the Central Coast. His areas of care include colon cancer screening, endoscopy, and the diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of gastrointestinal conditions. For gastroenterology appointments, direct access screening, or more information, call (805) 434-4315.

Kara Johnsson announces transition to Adventist Health Portland. September 2, 2026 News. After 11 years of faithful ministry in the Oregon Conference, Dr. Kara Johnsson has announced that she will be transitioning from her position as Oregon Conference Vice President for Administration to a new role leading the department of Philanthropy at Adventist Health Portland at the end of September. Before serving in her current position, Dr. Johnsson also served in the Oregon Conference as an associate executive pastor at the Sunnyside Seventh-day Adventist Church in Portland, Oregon, and as lead pastor at Oasis Christian Center in Vancouver, Washington. "It has been a privilege to serve this conference over the past 11 years. The people I've had the privilege to work with have been some of the best. Both in my experience as a pastor and as an administrator - every opportunity to serve here has been a blessing," said Dr. Johnsson. "I am deeply grateful for this season of ministry and particularly for the administrative team that I have been gifted to serve alongside. They are a rare combination of integrity, kindness, wisdom, and courage, and it has been an honor and a joy to work with them. While I will miss the daily work of the conference, I am excited to continue supporting our shared Adventist mission. Over these same 11 years in Portland, I have become deeply embedded in both the Adventist church communities and the surrounding local communities they serve. I look forward to carrying these relational foundations in my new role leading the department of Philanthropy at Adventist Health Portland, looking for clear and authentic ways for us to share in our mission of healing and hope. I am eager to strengthen our hospital's presence and positive impact in these neighborhoods and communities I have come to know and love. And I want to say thank you to each of our Oregon Conference church members for their partnership, encouragement, and friendship during my time here so far. I look forward to staying connected as we each continue serving in the ways God leads!" Oregon Conference president Dr. John McVay shared that Dr. Johnsson's impact will continue to be felt for years to come. "Those of us who have worked closely with Dr. Johnsson have been so blessed by her diligent work, her hopeful outlook, her appreciation for her colleagues, and her love for God and the church. We will deeply miss her excellent leadership and thoughtful counsel. In her work as Executive Secretary/Vice President for Administration of the Oregon Conference, Dr. Kara Johnsson has brought commitment, excellent education, rich pastoral experience, and a heartfelt love for our sisterhood of churches to bear on her duties. Ably leading us through difficult chapters, she has scribed a message of hope rooted in God's love for his people. Thank you, Dr. Johnsson! From all of us."

Adventist Health Central California launches Epic records system.

Adventist Health Central California launches Epic records system. Adventist Health Reedley image courtesy Adventist Health published on September 1, 2026 - 4:29 PM Adventist Health's Central California Network has launched Epic across its hospitals and clinics, placing care teams throughout the region on a single electronic health record system. The transition is intended to give clinicians a more complete view of each patient's health history, including care received at different Adventist Health facilities. The health care provider said the connected records should improve coordination and patient safety while reducing the time employees spend on administrative work. Patients will also have access to the MyChart portal, where they can view medical records and appointment information and exchange messages with their care teams. The Epic records system includes AI-assisted documentation tools that Adventist Health said will reduce paperwork for clinicians and staff, allowing them to spend more time working directly with patients. "Epic represents a major step forward in how we serve Central California," said Jason Wells, president of the Adventist Health Central California Network. "By bringing our hospitals, clinics, and care teams together on one connected platform, we are making healthcare simpler and more seamless for our patients while giving our teams powerful new tools to support exceptional care."

An Epic transition: our new Electronic Health Record and what it means for you.

An Epic transition: its new Electronic Health Record and what it means for you. Aug 28, 2026 When you visit your provider, have imaging or lab tests done, or spend time in one of its hospitals, your health information is stored in your unique patient chart. However, this chart isn't a physical folder with paper and notes - it's a fully secure electronic chart that puts all your Adventist Health medical records in one place for your care team. Beginning August 30, Adventist Health is shifting to a new electronic health record, called Epic, to better serve its patients and communities. Adventist Health know the transition to the new Epic system may raise some questions about what this means for you. What is an electronic health record? An Electronic Health Record (EHR) is a secure digital version of a patient's medical chart. It stores important health information such as medical history, medications, allergies, test results, immunizations, and treatment plans in one place. Its caregivers can access and update this information electronically, helping them coordinate your care, understand the latest updates on any treatments, and make more informed decisions about your health. Why did Adventist Health choose Epic for its new EHR? Its goal is to provide its communities with the very best care, and the Epic system helps Adventist Health accomplish this. Epic allows doctors, nurses, other staff, and patients to access the same up-to-date health information, which can improve communication, support safer care, and make it easier for you to access your health information. Epic also has user-friendly tools for scheduling appointments, managing billing, and communicating with your providers. This is all easily done on Adventist Health's new online patient portal, MyChart, which you can read more about below. How do you keep my information secure? As Adventist Health transition to Epic as its new EHR, protecting patient information is a top priority. Adventist Health is using important safeguards such as encrypting information, limiting access to authorized staff, and maintaining its usual monitoring for any suspicious activity. With this transition, Adventist Health has carefully built and tested the new system, trained its teams on privacy and security best practices, and made sure that Adventist Health is set up to transfer records accurately and safely. This helps Adventist Health ensure that your information is protected throughout the transition and afterward. What does this mean for my care? Adventist Health has chosen to transition to Epic because Adventist Health want to equip its teams with the best tools to support your health. Please note that a new electronic health record doesn't change the heart of how Adventist Health care for you: Treating you as a whole person as Adventist Health live out its mission to inspire health, wholeness, and hope. Adventist Health is hoping this change makes this important mission even easier to put into action! While you may notice some changes, such as its new patient portal or updated appointment and billing processes, the goal is to create a more connected and seamless experience. Throughout the transition, Adventist Health is working to ensure that any disruption to your care is minimized. Does this transition mean Adventist Health staff will be on devices more? During the initial transition, you may see staff using phones, tablets, and computers more as Adventist Health work through the necessary steps to transition information correctly. You may experience delays while this work happens. After the Epic Go-Live on August 30, and the first few weeks afterward, its teams will return to connecting with you as usual, and using technology only as needed to make sure Adventist Health is delivering the very best care. Will this change the way I access my health information and connect with my care team? Yes, and it's an exciting one. The transition to Epic means Adventist Health is transitioning to a new online patient portal called MyChart. Many of the features you're used to today exist within MyChart, such as viewing medical records and communicating with your doctor. MyChart makes these actions easier, and features easy-to-use tools such as online appointment scheduling, prescription refill requests, access to test results, convenient bill pay options, and the ability to manage the health information of family members through proxy access. Thank you for your patience as Adventist Health launch Epic. Please check in with your provider, nurse, or care team if you have any additional questions about this EHR transition.
