Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least two years of experience.
  • ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician Level I Certification.
  • Portable Nuclear Gauge Safety Training Certification.
  • Understanding of the Proctor Compaction Test and USCS Soil Classification.
  • Training and demonstrated competency in One-Point Proctor testing in the field, with validation.
  • A valid driver's license in the state of residence and eligibility to be insured under applicable company policies.
  • Ability to pass relevant tests and obtain valid signatures.
  • Ability to create and maintain accurate, confidential test records and prepare understandable reports.
  • Ability to use computers and common software applications and learn company-specific software and programs.
  • Ability to drive a company vehicle and follow company operation and safety guidelines.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal directions and communicate effectively in English.
  • Ability to lift or carry up to 50 pounds, climb ladders and scaffolding, and maneuver through construction sites and excavations.
  • Ability to work night shifts, weekends, early mornings, changing schedules, and travel to construction sites and out-of-town assignments.
Responsibilities
  • Review civil and structural plan specifications and identify sections applicable to the scope of work.
  • Perform tests, general construction inspections, and observations according to project requirements, with some supervision.
  • Prepare samples and collect and test soil, concrete, grout, mortar, and asphalt.
  • Submit daily field reports documenting testing, inspections, and field observations.
  • Document and communicate non-conforming items to designated project supervision.
  • Clean, maintain, and calibrate assigned equipment according to applicable codes and standards.
  • Transport, operate, and care for a nuclear density gauge in accordance with radiation-safety guidelines.
  • Identify, verbally communicate, and document test results and construction activities.
  • Drive to and from construction sites and perform short- and occasional long-term out-of-town assignments.
