Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in business administration, marketing, or a related field.
  • More than 3 years of successful previous experience as an Insurance Sales Representative or Sales Coordinator.
  • In-depth Property and Casualty Insurance industry knowledge, including vehicle, home, business, fire, life, property, and bonds.
  • Strong understanding of Personal and Commercial Lines underwriting guidelines.
  • Three to five years of previous account management and customer service experience.
  • Ability to establish and maintain professional networks.
  • Applicable valid resident Property and Casualty and/or Excess and Surplus licensure, as well as reciprocal licensure for applicable states.
  • A valid driver's license.
  • Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Responsibilities
  • Build and maintain agency relationships throughout the California territory.
  • Grow and develop a profitable territory within an assigned region.
  • Optimize the growth potential of independent agents while prospecting new agencies.
  • Develop competitor intelligence and collaborate with team members on product, pricing, and agency management decisions.
  • Scout and identify potential agencies for specific insurance programs.
  • Identify agencies' interests and ability to grow, and motivate agents to succeed.
  • Initiate systematic marketing processes within each agency to attract and retain new business.
  • Design and implement strategies for effective marketing and sales of insurance contracts.
  • Represent the company at trade association meetings to promote products.
  • Build and use best practices regarding agency operations, and follow up consultatively with plans while holding process owners accountable for agreed actions.
  • Adjust the sales approach to support operational differences between small and large agencies.
  • Influence the sale of company products through the agency distribution network.
  • Articulate a solution-oriented sales process that aligns company features, benefits, and solutions to agency needs.
  • Maintain consistent follow-up and follow-through with agents and team members.
  • Develop business solutions to achieve territory objectives.
  • Develop collaborative strategic agency management plans with agencies to achieve mutual business objectives.
  • Prioritize and maximize time and resources to achieve assigned responsibilities.
  • Stay current on product and pricing changes, articulate the company position, and seek business with appropriate agencies to meet company objectives.
  • Expand marketplace presence through insurance industry association trade shows and events.
  • Travel throughout the assigned territory to conduct face-to-face meetings with existing and prospective agents and attend trade shows and events.
  • Create and execute strategic marketing plans for the territory to identify opportunities and potential challenges and develop corresponding strategies and tactics.
  • Execute the sales strategy to grow company market share in the territory by appointing and coaching new agents.
  • Maintain current knowledge of the company's and agencies' computer systems.
  • Stay current on company product and pricing changes.
  • Complete other assigned tasks and projects.
