Requirements
  • At least 6 years of experience in structured cabling or a similar field.
  • Experience leading crews or acting as a senior or lead technician.
  • Strong knowledge of fiber optics, including splicing and optical time-domain reflectometer testing.
  • Strong knowledge of copper cabling systems.
  • Knowledge of industry standards including ANSI/TIA and ISO.
  • Hands-on experience with fusion splicers, testers, and termination kits.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex issues independently.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work on ladders and uneven surfaces, lift up to 35 pounds regularly, and stand, bend, and perform repetitive tasks throughout the day.
Responsibilities
  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of cabling technicians in the field.
  • Plan and execute structured cabling installations involving fiber, copper, and coax.
  • Perform terminations, splicing, testing, and troubleshooting.
  • Conduct site walks and assess project requirements.
  • Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and field leadership.
  • Ensure all work meets safety standards, codes, and quality expectations.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, including as-builts, test results, and progress updates.
  • Manage tools, materials, and inventory on-site.
  • Travel extensively to support projects across multiple locations, including occasional extended stays of several weeks.
Desired Qualifications
  • BICSI Technician certification or a similar certification.
  • Experience in industrial or large commercial environments.
