About the Job

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field is required.
  • At least 3 years of hands-on experience in emulation at semiconductor companies is required.
  • Deep expertise in emulation flows for large-scale chips using industry-standard emulators such as Zebu, Palladium, or Veloce is required.
  • A strong background in SystemVerilog for developing, testing, and debugging complex system-on-chip designs is required.
  • Experience developing and maintaining execution flows for building, running, and debugging emulation models is required.
  • Ability to own technical blocks and drive them to completion independently is required.

Responsibilities

  • Execute end-to-end emulation flows from high-level model generation and RTL synthesis to complex system-level testing and silicon-accurate debugging.
  • Work with next-generation emulation platforms such as Zebu, Palladium, or Veloce to implement emulation methodologies.
  • Maintain and evolve emulation flows to reduce compile times and increase execution speed.
  • Drive the initial model bring-up process, identifying and resolving complex bugs.
  • Ensure rapid cycles from RTL to functional stability through systematic debugging approaches.
  • Own technical blocks and drive them to completion independently.
  • Partner with Firmware, Software, and Validation teams to debug complex system-level scenarios.
  • Ensure seamless hardware-software integration for AI infrastructure connectivity.
  • Collaborate with Design and Verification teams to optimize emulation strategies.

Desired Qualifications

  • A master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
  • Familiarity with electronic design automation tools for lint, clock domain crossing, simulation, and synthesis is preferred.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python or Tcl for automation and flow enhancement is preferred.
  • Experience with standard debug environments such as Verdi is preferred.
  • Knowledge of high-speed interface protocols such as PCIe, Ethernet, CXL, or UALink is preferred.
  • A background in hardware-software co-verification methodologies is preferred.

About the Company

Astera Labs

Designs chips that connect data center systems

Astera Labs designs chips and hardware modules that move data between processors, memory and accelerators in data centers. Its customers include cloud providers, chip vendors and equipment makers building servers and large computing clusters for AI and other workloads. Retimers restore signal quality, switches connect devices and memory controllers expand the memory available to computing systems, while COSMOS software monitors and manages these links. The company sells its products directly and through distributors, using outside manufacturers to fabricate and assemble its hardware. Astera Labs was founded in 2017 and is headquartered in San Jose, California.
