Requirements
  • A Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field is preferred.
  • At least 5 years of experience as a Quality Engineer, ideally within automotive or aerospace manufacturing, with hands-on ownership of Advanced Product Quality Planning and Production Part Approval Process activities.
  • Practical experience with Advanced Product Quality Planning, Production Part Approval Process, Design and Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis, and Control Plans.
  • Familiarity with IATF 16949.
  • Advanced knowledge of statistics, including Statistical Process Control, probability, Cpk/Ppk, Gage Repeatability and Reproducibility, and Measurement System Analysis.
  • Root cause analysis and structured problem-solving skills using 8D, 5-Why, and fishbone methods.
  • Communication, presentation, and analytical skills for leading and working with operational teams and internal and external stakeholders.
  • Project management, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Understanding of Lean principles, including the ability to create flow diagrams and process maps.
  • Technical reading, interpretation, and writing skills for specifications and quality documentation.
Responsibilities
  • Lead implementation of Advanced Product Quality Planning methodology across new product introduction and existing product lines.
  • Develop and maintain Production Part Approval Process packages, Control Plans, and Process and Design Failure Mode and Effects Analyses for new and changing products.
  • Assist in establishing, implementing, and maintaining the quality management system.
  • Monitor, compile, and drive action from First Pass Yield, Quality Nonconformance, and Return Material Authorization data with cross-functional teams to improve product and process performance.
  • Support product development and introduction to production through design release and change approvals, Failure Mode and Effects Analysis design and analysis, and quality assurance planning.
  • Interface with Engineering, Operations, and Supply Chain to ensure products conform to approved specifications.
  • Identify measurement and metrology technologies and strategies, and evaluate and recommend technologies for measurement, inspection, and testing.
  • Conduct internal and external audits, close findings, create audit reports, and determine corrective actions.
  • Compile statistical data and lead capability studies using Cpk/Ppk and Gage Repeatability and Reproducibility and Measurement System Analysis studies on new and existing equipment, then report findings and recommendations.
  • Train and mentor quality technicians and cross-functional partners on Advanced Product Quality Planning, Production Part Approval Process, Failure Mode and Effects Analysis, and structured problem-solving methods.
  • Apply Lean principles to guide improvements, including process mapping and flow diagrams.
  • Interpret technical documentation and testing specifications, and produce technical writing and reports.
Desired Qualifications
  • IATF 16949 familiarity is preferred but certification is not required.
  • Experience in automotive or aerospace manufacturing is preferred.
  • Six Sigma certification is a plus.
