What believers are saying

  • Lineup is widening: in July 2026, TCI announced it will sell Battle Motors' diesel, natural gas and electric work trucks.
  • Apprentices get structure: TCI's technician program pairs 16 weeks of training modules with 12 weeks of senior-technician mentoring.
  • A signing bonus is on offer: TCI's Troy second-shift diesel mechanic opening lists up to $7,500 for qualified technicians.

What critics are saying

  • Its dealerships rest on one maker: Daimler Truck North America builds both the Freightliner and Western Star trucks TCI sells.
  • Mechanics supply their own tools: TCI's South Bend technician posting requires personal tools, with specialty tooling shared on site.
  • Availability extends past set hours: TCI's Champaign-based mobile diesel mechanic must stay available to customers outside normal hours when needed.

What makes Truck Centers, Inc. unique

  • Training is built in: TCI runs a 24,000-square-foot Daimler Trucks North America training center that also teaches other dealers' technicians.
  • Parts depth backs service: TCI carries more than $23 million in stocked parts inventory.
  • Service meets a factory standard: TCI was in Freightliner's first tier of dealers validated for its Elite Support service program.
