Requirements
  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited university.
  • At least six years of practice experience and/or knowledge management experience, with substantive knowledge and practice experience directly aligned with the assigned practice.
  • Demonstrated interest in and working familiarity with the firm's artificial intelligence platforms, including Harvey, Claude, ChatGPT, CoCounsel, and Copilot, and how they apply to legal work in the practice area.
  • Experience working with practice technology and knowledge platforms, including Practical Law and Practical Guidance, litigation analytics tools, brief analyzers, deal closing tools, document automation tools, and data extraction tools.
  • Ability to translate practice group needs into requirements for prompts, agents, and workflows, and to translate resulting technical capabilities into practical guidance attorneys can use.
  • Ability to partner effectively with attorneys and the firm's technology team to deliver practical, high-value solutions.
  • Strong communication and facilitation skills, with experience delivering training and driving user adoption.
  • Experience or aptitude structuring and curating legal knowledge and work product so it can be effectively used, including by artificial intelligence systems.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities using data to inform decisions.
  • Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment while contributing to team-based innovation efforts.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as the primary point of contact and face of the Innovation function within one or more assigned practice groups, building working relationships with attorneys to understand their workflows, substantive needs, and knowledge gaps.
  • Serve as a go-to resource for associates seeking guidance or knowledge, providing access to relevant knowledge assets and practice solutions in their day-to-day work.
  • Collaborate with attorneys, clients, and cross-functional teams to identify high-value use cases and contribute to the design and deployment of artificial intelligence and technology solutions that enhance legal service delivery.
  • Guide attorneys on which artificial intelligence tools and technology solutions are best suited to different stages and tasks across the lifecycle of a matter, using the firm's general artificial intelligence platforms and practice-specific point solutions.
  • Customize prompts and workflows that make artificial intelligence useful in the practice group's day-to-day work, and translate practice group needs into clear requirements for the Applied Artificial Intelligence team when a custom or agentic build is warranted.
  • Contribute to substantive legal training and training on artificial intelligence tools for the practice group, leading group and one-on-one sessions and identifying skill and comfort gaps to build attorney confidence.
  • Structure and curate the practice group's precedents, playbooks, and institutional knowledge, keeping assets organized, maintained, and readily usable by attorneys.
  • Monitor developments in artificial intelligence and legal technology and in the practice group's substantive area, identifying opportunities to improve legal work product and client service.
  • Create and distribute current-awareness updates connecting legal, industry, and artificial intelligence developments to their practical implications for the practice group.
  • Gather and analyze usage data and attorney feedback to identify training and development opportunities, ensuring technology initiatives align with practice-group priorities and firmwide objectives.
  • Support broader innovation projects and collaborate with international offices as needed, including accommodating work outside standard United States business hours.
  • Mentor and provide guidance to Knowledge & Innovation Attorneys or analysts supporting the practice group.
  • Represent the practice group's artificial intelligence and knowledge priorities in discussions with practice-group leadership and firm management.
  • Set priorities for artificial intelligence and knowledge initiatives within the assigned practice groups, balancing firmwide strategy with practice-specific needs.
