Requirements
  • Demonstrated domain depth in application security, vulnerability management, or security research, including work on or adjacent to scanners, detection content, threat intelligence, or software development life cycle security tooling.
  • Technical credibility sufficient to reason about detection logic, data pipelines, continuous integration integration, and coverage-versus-noise tradeoffs with security engineering teams.
  • Commercial reasoning grounded in revenue mechanics, buyer motion, and competitive displacement.
  • Evidence of using artificial intelligence for research, analysis, data pulls, prototyping, or drafting as a force multiplier.
  • Ability to exercise judgment under ambiguity by presenting structured options and a recommendation.
  • Ability to turn noisy, technical, and politically contested problems into clear written alignment.
  • Ability to communicate precisely and asynchronously so distributed teams can act without meetings.
Responsibilities
  • Own the business outcomes for Secret Detection and Vulnerability Research, including adoption, expansion, competitive win rate, and revenue contribution, and provide a point of view on packaging and pricing.
  • Set the strategy for the full secret lifecycle: prevention, detection, validation, revocation, and reporting across GitLab.com, Dedicated, and Self-Managed.
  • Define how detection rules, advisories, and intelligence feeds are sourced, validated, versioned, and measured, and make quality visible to customers.
  • Own detection-quality metrics and improve precision by addressing false positives as product defects.
  • Read rule syntax, question entropy heuristics, understand scanner misses, and challenge engineering with informed alternatives.
  • Use artificial intelligence to pull data, prototype flows, synthesize research and competitive input, and bring conclusions rather than requests for investigation.
  • Build the case for artificial intelligence in triage, rule generation, remediation guidance, and reducing human review burden per finding.
  • Partner with engineering, security research, threat intelligence, Field, and GitLab's Security team.
  • Work asynchronously with engineering, design, and research counterparts across multiple regions and with Field teams that take the product to market.
Desired Qualifications
  • Hands-on background as a developer, security engineer, red teamer, or researcher.
  • Experience with credential and token ecosystems.
  • Experience commercializing a data or intelligence asset.

GitLab provides a unified DevOps platform that brings together the tools needed for software development, including code hosting, collaboration, CI/CD, issue tracking, and security, all in one application. It works by offering a single subscription-based platform where teams can plan, write, test, review, and deploy code through automated pipelines, reducing the need to manage separate tools. This differs from many competitors that require using a collection of separate products; GitLab consolidates these capabilities into one integrated solution, helping teams work more efficiently. The company’s goal is to help organizations speed up software delivery and improve collaboration by simplifying the DevOps process and continuously updating the platform with new features and improvements.

GitLab releases single-tenant AI and security suite for regulated enterprises

GitLab has released version 19.3 and expanded its Duo Agent Platform, allowing enterprises to run agentic AI inside single-tenant environments whilst managing credentials across their software development lifecycle. The update enables regulated organisations to deploy AI and security workflows within strict audit boundaries through GitLab Dedicated environments. The move addresses compliance requirements for data-sensitive customers but introduces potential complexity and cost challenges as the company scales AI features. GitLab's investment case hinges on whether AI tools like Duo Agents can drive upgrades and usage amid intense competition and slowing customer growth. The company's narrative projects $1.5 billion revenue and $186.3 million earnings by 2029, requiring 15.3% yearly revenue growth.
