Junior HPC System Administrator
About the job
- Experience in Linux administration, especially Red Hat Enterprise Linux and its clones, and Linux command-line tools.
- Basic understanding of networking concepts, including TCP/IP, DNS, and firewalls.
- Experience with scripting languages such as Bash, Python, or Perl for task automation.
- Familiarity with configuration management tools such as Ansible.
- Exposure to monitoring tools such as Nagios, Ganglia, Prometheus, or Grafana.
- Experience using ticketing, issue-tracking, and project-management systems such as Atlassian JIRA or Redmine.
- Good knowledge of Greek and English.
- Monitor system availability and respond to alerts.
- Assist in automating system configuration.
- Troubleshoot issues with hardware, operating systems, and parallel file systems.
- Respond to user support tickets.
- Contribute to system documentation.
- Contribute to the high availability and smooth operation of high-performance computing systems through monitoring, automation, troubleshooting, and user support.
- Basic understanding of high-performance computing concepts, such as parallel computing and job scheduling.
- Familiarity with job schedulers such as SLURM or Torque for managing compute workloads.
- Exposure to high-performance computing hardware components, such as GPUs, InfiniBand, and parallel file systems like Lustre or GPFS.
- Master of Science or PhD in Computer Engineering or Computer Science.
- Two years of experience in a relevant high-performance computing field.
