Requirements
  • Must have a structural and composite background with 3–5 years of relevant experience; technical education and/or verified work experience in other composite industry sectors may substitute for part of the experience requirement.
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow customer work item requirements, drawings, and wiring diagrams.
  • Must be a United States citizen and able to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense Secret security clearance.
  • Fluency in English, verbally and in writing.
  • Prior experience supervising other personnel.
  • Demonstrated ability to use power, pneumatic, and hand tools, including grinders, saws, drills, and impact tools.
  • Ability to apply critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Physical condition suitable for work in a heavily industrial shipyard environment, including walking up and down multiple ship levels and exposure to heat, humidity, rain, and cold.
  • Willingness to travel to various locations in support of assigned projects.
  • Flexibility with scheduling and planned support in response to changes in shipyard delivery schedules and critical-path items.
  • Thorough knowledge of safety procedures and guidelines.
Responsibilities
  • Oversee the daily production plans identified by the Composite Superintendent and customer requirements.
  • Manage and oversee surface preparation and composite lamination, infusion, and installation of laminate and RAM tile systems.
  • Assist with material research, purchase requests, job planning, and material receipt.
  • Assist shipboard leads in creating and maintaining quality-assurance binders, Plans of Action and Milestones, Test and Inspection Plans, and daily, weekly, and monthly customer and Operations Manager reports.
  • Coordinate with Lead Technicians, Operations Managers, and Superintendents on personnel assignments and job completion across multiple tasks.
  • Assist shipboard task leads with installations, identify hazards and malfunctions, and repair or replace damaged equipment when needed.
  • Ensure personnel adhere to the company Quality Management System and safety programs for assigned tasks.
  • Ensure junior personnel follow proper Lockout/Tagout procedures.
  • Provide training to assigned personnel on quality-assurance forms, organization, and other applicable topics.
  • Provide insight and feedback for training assigned shipboard personnel, including RAM, composite certifications, quality-assurance forms, and organization.
  • Assist in maintaining the structure of S-Drive folders, including scanning and uploading quality-assurance and shipboard documents for assigned tasks.
  • Assist with biannual evaluations and schedule paid-time-off reports for assigned shipboard personnel.
  • Promote team building, employee growth, and recognition.
  • Install, repair, and troubleshoot composite lamination and layup onboard United States Navy ships.
  • Oversee shipboard composite manufacturing, outfitting, installation, RAM repair, and RAM installation.
  • Ensure composite production meets Composite Superintendent expectations and ship specification requirements while complying with applicable safety policies and procedures.
Desired Qualifications
  • Current active Secret security clearance.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Project.
  • Shipyard competent person certification.
  • OSHA 10 – Maritime certification.
